Relationship Astrology: Venus-Uranus Aspects in Synastry – “We Love In Unconventional Ways”

Like a moth to a flame. Suddenly, shocking… out of nowhere. Lightning quick. Unexplained.

These are a few common ways in which Venus-Uranus contacts operate in synastry, better known as relationship Astrology. This aspect suggests a sudden. magnetic attraction with live electric currents. There is a heightened quality to the stimulation of this aspect which seems to transcend the boxes or categories we use to differentiate ourselves such as race, gender, sexual orientation, class or culture. Honestly, the beauty which you see in each other is so customized that you rarely give a damn.

Whatever enamors you about the other person may have done so to a degree that you’ll continue to pursue that attraction in the face of objection from family, friends and whomever else has the audacity to disagree with your choices. The questions which this aspect begs to answer is ” Am I “high” off rebellion? Or, is this the real thing?

What you need to know is that the potential exists for it to be REALLY REAL provided that there are structural supports in place for when the buzzing subsides, which will eventually happen. If this is NOT the case, you may find  yourself in a situation where you find yourselves in a conundrum, asking why there’s this on again/off again/on again dynamic.

One of the biggest lessons which can be taught and learned by this aspect is that there’s no “one size fits all” when it comes to relationships. At the end of the day, your fulfillment matters more than any illusory model which society parades as the end all to be all of happiness. You value and cherish your right to map out your union as you see fit and could definitely encourage others to do the same.

It’s important to be aware of the tendency to take impulsive action when your partner’s human qualities surface as if that somehow bores you. Adopting an erroneous perspective in this area could create a chronic dissatisfaction as to keep you never satisfied, seeking the next best thing, while longer term intimacy evades you and you mistake a person’s imperfections for relationship stagnation.

Take a listen to the Jazzyfatnastees “Unconventional Ways”. This song captures the spirit of the Venus-Uranus aspect in synastry perfectly:

Virgo Sun, Leo Moon, Cancer Rising

Within the combination of a Virgo Sun, Leo Moon and Cancer rising, the basic energy which stimulates the individual is that which comes with the process of refinement, analysis and self-improvement. Employing the skills of discernment in service of a greater ideal. Making an assessment of how parts may work together to keep themselves and others running more efficiently.

There’s a tendency to put energy towards making everyone and everything better and perfect a part of themselves and offer that as service to humanity.

The Virgo Sun’s fuel is used by the Leo Moon to give form to a personality which needs to be appreciated, adored and admired. Someone who’s nourished by being seen as special and unique.

There’s an emotional need to have the core identity validated.

In order  for this person to be truly fulfilled, The expression of creative talents must be an extension of this identity.

The world is seen through the filtering of the Cancer Ascendant: the sensitive, poetic and self-protective eyes of a nurturer.

This placement suggests a highly intuitive nature which is easily able to tap into emotional undercurrents and size up the general “vibe” of situations without a staunch and logic analysis.

Cancer rising is also capable of offering the purest form of warmth, feeling connection and listening response . However, it’s extremely vital to distinguish your feelings from those of others which whom you come into contact.

Dysfunction can occur when there’s an almost obsessive drive to meet the  emotional needs of others used solely as an escape from acknowledging the depth of your own.

Contained within this specific astrological signature is the emotional need to circulate both intellectually and socially. One is nourished through maintaining an openness to fresh information and a variety of interests. This orientation supports and reflects aspirations of social interactions and friendships based on equality, kindness and good will.

In this thing called life,  you’ve been blessed with the type of navigational device which requires deep and significant interactions and involvement with the world. Inherent in this journey is a risk factor where your vulnerability is concerned. However, there are also the potential rewards of a greater self-awareness and the neutralization of the fear that comes with authentic self-revelation.

At the heart of it all, your Sun, Moon and Ascendant blend contains a youthful curiosity about everyone and everything, and it’s important to become comfortable in your own skin and with your own versatility as it can prove to be of great benefit to you and ultimately help you shine as the type of person who’s welcomed into diverse social circles. Much of this is dependent on the sincerity of your interest in others. Being genuine will take you far. However, a hidden agenda of controlling  everyone around you so won’t feel “unmasked” is sure to derail you.

While not readily apparent on the surface, you enter the world with a desire to be deeply known, but there’s a reoccurring thought of how much it will “cost you”. After all, being naked in front of others is not your forte.

When the energy invested in self-protection is wisely transmuted, allowing your raw feelings to surface without labeling it as a loss of strength, you’ll be that much closer to tapping into a wider range of your human adaptability and can move more fluidly and gracefully , thereby “loosening your grip” and allowing your personal expression to be your art.

This facet of your makeup can prove to be especially important in your personal relationships. It’s worth reiterating that your navigational device is honed with potential laser sharp and piercing “spidey senses”, which tempt you to “call it like you see it.” because you feel as if you can’t live with yourself any other way.

It would benefit you considerably to realize that everyone isn’t built this way and your astro signature contains more than enough adaptability to skillfully temper your approach and dole out your insights at a level that’s appropriate for whomever you’re dealing with at the time.

Astrologer Jodie Forrest states:

“For Scorpio rising, life should be confronted with honesty, intensity a commitment to deep self-awareness and a willingness to examine all taboos. This doesn’t mean to break all of them. It just means that no area of life or death should be barred from the laser sharp scrutiny of this ascendant.”

When the Libra Sun and Gemini Moon are synthesized into the equation, the message is to learn to enjoy the process of discovery and while on the journey, forming relationships which are conducive to exploring ALL of your dimensions without unhealthy fear, judgment or excessive and counterproductive self-protection.

because i be loving myself. and the kissy face will always be a classic for me. i am witnessing my evolution. such a lovely flower i am, blooming. an extraordinarily sweet, nourishing,...

Here, the mental orientation is crystal clear.

The core life energy inherent in this blend is about balancing one’s self acceptance with social approval; weighing the need to actively craft one’s identity and seeing self through the eyes of others.

This is reflected in the personality form  where the core emotional needs are related to diversification and adaptability. You’re nourished by having your hands in a little bit of everything and understand what it means to have competing priorities.

Your thrust into the world is navigated by a “vehicle” which is inclined to explore alternate ways of being which defy social conventions and challenge the status quo.

Active social circulation and sincere curiosity about others serves as a gateway to forging the interpersonal relationships which are needed to maintain your vitality.

“Some are made modest by great praise, others insolent.” – Friedrich Nietzsche

The combination of a Leo Sun and a Virgo Moon in an individual birth chart suggests the potential to shine by making oneself useful and summoning the powers of discrimination and insightfulness with the ultimate goal of improving the existing state of affairs.

This person is fueled by attracting notice from others, usually through avenues which allow regal and confident self-expression. Their vitality is stimulated by leading and being appreciated for their special qualities which allow them to illuminate the world with the warmth and heat of the spark of their divine being.

In addition, the personality reflects a need to clear out the useless and superfluous gunk in order to become a more radiant vessel for individual creativity.

The solar/lunar blend of Leo and Virgo can assist one another in providing balancing elements.

Leo provides a “solar boost” to the otherwise suggested modesty and tendency to dwell in the background of the Virgo Moon, while the Moon in Virgo’s need for reserve and reality checks can help curb unhealthy  and excessive egoical tendencies of a dysfunctionally operating Leo Sun.

Leo’s energy, like the Sun’s is only as effective as the glow it provides for EVERYONE.

When one becomes overly critical of oneself or others, which is a regression of the Virgo Moon’s energies, the shine downgrades to dullness.

Also, when the ego gets out of check he/she ceases to be useful. When the desire for praise or fame trumps correct techniques for everyday living, the result may very well be the person who gains a counterfeit popularity through criticizing other people:  A certified hater.

Optimally, there’s a sense of refined nobility, a generosity which is both fervent and sincere. A richness of spirit that not only uplifts and inspires, but also serves practical aims in the tangible world.

Although you’re the type to enjoy a lighthearted “good time” and may even express your deepest feelings in the form of anecdotes,  if someone were to delve into your interior just a little bit more, they would see that it’s not all adolescent giggles and midnight games of scrabble.

You value variety, but depth is pursued in a fervent, almost “do or die” fashion. Once you get your emotional energy swirling behind a cause (especially love or lust), all bets are off.

You have the potential to relate to others with a dexterity which disarms them, but you don’t stop there. In fact, this is only a means to explore the gloss of the surface before diving into deep waters. Once you’ve arrived you like to penetrate and be penetrated : spiritually, physically, psychologically and emotionally.

One may get the idea that you’re footloose and fancy free because you seem to navigate life with such aplomb, but what they may not see unless they get extremely close to you is your craving for intensity. What people fail to understand about you is that you view sex as just one of the many vehicles that can be used to explore and solidify a deeper connection with another human being. So, your true reasons for engaging in the throes of intimacy are often at variance with what others expect.

Your psychological makeup could be compared to a burner on a stove that doesn’t turn orange when it warms up, so people try to touch you and get scorched because they had NO IDEA you were so hot.

You need your privacy, but in order to remain true to yourself, it’s important that you cultivate the ability to make your deepest needs known to others. Learning the difference between strategic self-protection and deception is part of your life’s work.

Your sword can cut both ways through verbal confrontation and strategic precisely timed action.

Planetary Transits : It’s All About The Questions We Ask

(photo: istudyincanada.com)

This post was inspired by a chapter I came across in Tracy Marks’ book entitled “The Astrology of Self-Discovery” ( http://www.amazon.com/The-Astrology-Self-Discovery-Tracy-Marks/dp/0916360202 ).

One of the things that I like about her philosophy in regard to our experience with certain transits is that the process is geared more toward exploring our growth and development and less toward focusing on the question : “what’s going to happen to me?”, which suggests that we’re resigned to some sort of inevitable fate that our own efforts can do nothing to alter or augment.

Here are some questions related to planetary transits, starting with Jupiter that I would like to share:

Jupiter Transits
In what ways can I expand/broaden the concepts which are associated with the transiting Sign, aspect and house position?

How can I adopt a greater sense of abundance when it comes to the affairs of the Jupiter’s transiting planetary relationship, as well as the house position in my birth chart?

In what ways can I create more opportunities for myself?

How can I uncover opportunities which otherwise may be undetected because they present themselves in a rather mundane “package”?

What do I believe about my life when it comes to Jupiter’s transiting relationship to my birth chart? Are my beliefs working for me? What’s the current status of my life philosophy?

Saturn Transits
How can I adopt a greater sense of reality when it comes to Saturn’s transiting relationship to planets in my chart, as well as the house position?

What’s in my life which calls for a “quality control” examination?

Where do I need to pare down the clutter in my life and eliminate what’s no longer functional?

In what areas do I need to plan, structure, organize and exercise self-discipline & commitment?

Where may I have to delay short term gratification in service of longer term development?

Where do I need to exercise a greater sense of maturity, which will ultimately lead to wisdom?

In what areas of my life should I strive for concrete and tangible results?
Where should I be prepared to test the validity of my ideals in the real world?

Uranus Transits
In what areas of my life can I use my ingenuity and penchant for innovation?

Where in my life (according to Uranus’ transiting relationship to sign & house) can I totally revamp and gain fresh and exciting perspectives?

Where do I need to gain a re-invigorated sense of freedom?

In what areas of my life must I be open to sudden change which doesn’t occur as I imagined it would?

Where can I make progressive inroads by going against the grain?

Where can I simultaneously recognize and learn to appreciate my group affiliations and individual presence?

Neptune Transits
Where can I eliminate the need to “push” things in my life and allow myself to experience a greater sense of flow?

If I’m experiencing a sense of rigidity, where does it need to be dissolved?
In what areas of my life can I experience more unity?

Where can I eliminate the incessant need for strict definition, and adopt a more rhythmic and free-form approach?

Where may I be likely to delude myself or view things with rose-colored spectacles, possible over- idealizing?

In what areas of my life may I be prone to self-deception? (Choosing to believe something only because I wish it was the case)

In what areas of my life can I call on my creative imagination, intuition and sensitivity as a co-pilot in making decisions?

Pluto Transits

How can I use a crisis as an opportunity?

Is there anything which I’ve become overly identified with in my life (job, relationship, title, material possession, religious/spiritual belief) which requires complete recalibration?

What fears am I afraid to penetrate and examine?

What areas of my life am I seeking to completely transform?

What do I seek to “kill” or bring “death” to in my emotional, spiritual or psychological life?

What area(s) in my life requires a dramatic, sweeping change of perspective as to make them “born again” ?

Jupiter Enters Scorpio – October 10th, 2017

Venus In The Fifth

Jupiter enters Scorpio today [October 10th, 9:20AM, EST] ushering in growth and expansion through transmutation, something I’m personally looking forward to. Jupiter in Scorpio, for me, symbolizes fearlessness and survival; a sort of spiritual digging/unearthing, and there’s nothing pretty about it. That’s the joy of it all (at least for me it is) raw and penetrating.

I also foresee an increase in occult studies, shadow work, and the darker parts of the soul/psyche. We see this in popular culture with the rise of television shows that deal with everything from zombies (The Walking Dead), witchcraft and mediumship (Midnight Texas), and magical Gods (American Gods)

Jupiter is tied into religion and faith, more so than Neptune. Even the church of Satan has become more visible. After all, Scorpio’s ruler (Pluto/Hades) rules the underworld, and getting down and dirty to the…

Scorpio Sun, Pisces Moon, Sagittarius Rising : “Shake it Off”

You are moved in your heart by the vision of an ideal world and often process your experience by the way you think it “should be”.  The thought of potential and possibilities keeps you looking around every corner for opportunities. When you DO discover them, you’ll find that they ask you to present a full version of yourself that you’re not always comfortable with everyone seeing- that’s the conundrum. Will you miss out on what life has to offer because you’re concerned about people seeing through your core?

Your astrological signature suggests solar power of wanting to penetrate yourself to the maximum degree while respecting the natural rhythms of life. Your fear must not be allowed restrict your flow or dull your instincts.

What you’re seeking is to present your most authentic self to the world and shake anything that would resemble paranoia off of your self-projection. Understand that you have the choice to view the world as a threatening OR an inviting place.

Think about how a micro issue can restrict you from living MACRO. It’s a big world out there and faith in your gut can take you far. When you understand how to harness and direct what may initially appear toxic or painful, in the appropriate direction, it can help you to realize that your wounds can be both instructive and empowering.

Mercury In Cancer: Needs to speak “from the heart”. Potential adeptness at interpreting the unspoken language of feeling. The ability to externalize inner emotional states with poetic refinement and sensitivity is a potential strength.

Mercury in Leo: The confident Orator. The boasting MC. Needs unique self to shine through when communicating. Thinking in a bold and self-assured fashion with a regal stature. Using colorful language with dramatic flair to attract attention and construct individual creative prowess.

The critic. The “red pen” editor. Crossed t’s and dotted i’s. Eliminating the superfluous in the written and spoken word.
