Life’s Mission: To create and sustain a solid sense of self through the utilization of a sacred space designed to process one’s feelings. Becoming a “rock” for oneself and serving as a “container” of physical and emotional well-being for others.

In order to use this astrological signature for constructive personal development, one must strongly consider exploring themes tied to emotional, physical and material security. Two of the ever-present questions that serve as a litmus test will be: “Can I trust it?” And “Does it feel safe?”

The fundamental lens through which you process experiences is founded on a goal of the constant deepening of your connection to life and others through relationships, while simultaneously creating and maintaining  a private inner space to ground and process the full gamut of emotions ranging from ecstatic elation to damning disappointment.

Not only does witnessing the unfolding of beauty, in the myriad of its forms and meanings feed your soul, it also serves as the type of fuel that you need to sustain your life’s work and vitality.  It’s important to consistently ask yourself: “Am I OK?”  As, being rooted in the NOW with your thoughts and feelings spurs optimal functioning.

Typically, you exude the type of presence which indicates an acute awareness of the feelings of other people as well as an innate receptiveness.  This is often misconstrued as an unabashed openness and you may be approached as such.  In cases like these, creating the proper boundaries and “owning” of energies between two people can’t be stressed enough.

Considering your elemental mix of earth and water and your temperamental synthesis of melancholic and phlegmatic, one of your reigning strengths lies in being both a “rock” and a vessel for others. Included in this box of resources is a generous offering of empathy, an unconditional listening response and the gift of vivid articulation of the language of the heart.  Because you’re able to excavate things from the often times crusty layers of the unconscious, it’s wise to staunchly protect your energy field. While others may be encouraged to lean on you, how heavily is a decision which has clear ramifications for you when it comes to your emotional health.

It also needs to be mentioned that when disordered, your private world carries the capability of being one not only of sheer serenity and pleasure, but also self-pity. One of the lessons you’re here to learn is that of identifying the differences between acknowledging, experiencing and DWELLING in your feelings. Even as a container, you require periodic release.

While it’s imperative for you to understand the “ebbs and flows of the tides”, how to  actively and consciously steer your ship from nostalgia to the now will prove to be a crucial part of navigating your psyche.

It can be easy for you to become stuck in the rut that says you must “keep it all together” for the sake of everyone else, but this is erroneous thinking.  Another growth catalyst is the recognition that living with the peace to which you aspire doesn’t equate with a disturbance free life. In fact, the very same forces that you deem as disruptive hold clues to something that needs to be corrected or adjusted in your life.

Metaphorically, if the “thud” of the burglar in our house in the middle of the night wasn’t heard or detected, there would be no sounding of the alarm, or the sense that someone wasn’t welcome. Thus, there would be no impetus to taking further action which could possibly save our lives.

You’re at your best when you confront your own disturbances and serve as a conduit to show others how to do the same. Projecting warmth and humanity, yet making the distinction as to where you end and where other people begin.

Mercury-Neptune Aspects

mercneptune

When interpreting aspects in one’s birth chart, it’s important to keep in mind that for every constructive and helpful potential, there’s a dysfunctional and maladaptive one. The relationship between Mercury and Neptune provides an excellent example.  As we investigate the planetary archetypes, we come to realize that Mercury is the thinker and the communicator. It’s associated with our perception, information exchange, speech and our rational mind.

Neptune, on the other hand, is the archetype of all things which are nebulous and can’t be clearly defined. The planetary energy is slippery, and simultaneously enchanting and deceptive.  Ideals, escapism and lack of boundaries also fall in the Neptunian realm.

So, what type of potentials exist when these two meet up in the birth chart?  On the constructive side, there’s potential  for the flowing of the left-brain, right-brain connection. An affinity with symbols can be present and in turn, creates a strength in deciphering languages which speak to the collective in broad and universal terms like film, music, astrology, poetry, etc…  One’s speech may be refined and from the intellectual standpoint they may be able to tune into subtleties that others miss. When this aspect is working, there’s a definite power of suggestion at play. In fact, this is the same suggestion that advertisers use to “tune into” what their audience wants (or what they think they want).

There’s also a talent for understanding how ideas are interconnected which can give a person a great sense of rhythm and flow and the capacity to communicate ideas to others which reflect idealism and inspire creative activity.  A visionary with the sensitivity of mind to tap into what makes people tick and assist and heal in the subterranean realms would be a great use of this aspect.

On the other side of things, there can be a penchant for lying by omission in one’s communication, “double talk” and delusional thinking.  The maladaptive side of  this aspect can manifest as someone who is able to permeate the thought processes of others, but uses it for designs that are less than honorable, such as those that participate in the “brainwashing” process.

Inherent within this Sun/moon blend is the potential for a synthesis of the most gentle winds and a raging hurricane.

A certain need for  spirit, nuance and delicacy fills your heart , as there’s a longing to unite with a source must greater than yourself.  Not only do you have the capacity to tap into the subtlety of  emotional undercurrents, but it also fuels your vitality to plunge into the depths; right into the heart of matters which would be considered taboo.

Unless you’re penetrating life’s mysteries, peeling away layers and removing veils to uncover  truth, you may feel like a car that’s  designed to run on high-octane fuel, but has settled for regular 87.

What you really want to do is integrate the parts of your being which deal with raw, authenticity and aspire to control the seething intensity in your gut as it bubbles up to the surface, and those which long for an ideal world. On any level, profound connections are sought. Managing inner turmoil and acute sensitivity isn’t the easiest of jobs, but someone has to do it.

What may assist you is considering the perspective that sometimes, the more we seek to impose our will, to control and to manipulate people and things, the more slippery they become in our illusory grasp.

Indeed, having a sense of “flow” is something which nourishes you at your core, but the fluidity becomes blocked when other people exclusively become the focus of your psychological scrutiny as a means to navigate the waters of your personal unconscious.

Understand that you can still use your imagination and be firmly connected to reality. You can exercise empathy toward the pain of another and still walk away, and you can swim in the deep without becoming engulfed.

Leo Sun, Libra Moon, Scorpio Rising

With the Astrological signature of a Leo Sun, Libra Moon and Scorpio Rising, one’s lifetime work includes delving into life in a deep and significant way which can make yourself and others around you uncomfortable. They key to this is to understand that everyone doesn’t share that particular penetrating and investigative spirit and to edit yourself accordingly.

You shine brightest when you let others share some of the stage with you and shift your genuine interest in the viewpoints and opinions of your fellow human beings. In fact, your social acumen can be used as a gateway to gain notice and attention from others in the most genuine, NON ego-inflated way possible. To understand that “your side of the story” is just A side, is to claim a victory for you.

With Scorpio at the helm, you approach the world in way  that no stone goes unturned and the motives of others are scrutinized. When you shine the mirror back on yourself, you can learn a great deal about the tension which exists between wanting to be known and celebrated by the world and protecting your privacy. Just remember, the deeper you delve and the more truths you face, no matter how grave, the closer you’ll be to neutralizing the fear of embarrassment when it comes to exposure.

You’re fulfilled and nourished by personal relationships, but only the ones which will allow a full range of who you are to be displayed will stand the test of time. If you’re addressing your own issues, you’ll be able to help people whether their storms and then cast a warm healing light on them as a gesture of genuine friendship. If you’re projecting, others will continuously be viewed as being “up to something” and your modus operandi will be how you can best control others while minimizing the damage to yourself.

A great deal of emotional power is at your disposal if you’re willing to risk putting your cards on the table and relinquish anxiety behind appearing in your best light all of the time. No one is perfect, so that striving to be seen as kind, “nice” and together will have to be modified. If you take anything with you, take the fact that we’re at our most beautiful when we’re most human, and that beauty is  the heartfelt desire of your life.

Mercury-Jupiter Aspects: “Mr Big Stuff”

Image

Today’s blog, and it’s title is dedicated to the memory of Dwight Arrington Myers, better known as Heavy D, who made his transition on Tuesday, November 8th, 2011 at the age of 44. He served the hip- hop community as a vibrant, positive and inspirational figureHis presence will be sorely missedMay his artistic contribution live on as well as his expansive, generous spirit. Hev is truly “Mr. Big Stuff.”

In astrological symbolism, the planet Mercury represents the rational mind. It’s what we think about; the processing of information. Mercury is speech, writing and the formation of our opinions.

Jupiter symbolizes the higher mind. It’s the largest planet in our solar system, and whatever Mr. Big Stuff touches, he expands. In some cases, Jupiterian contact can even indicate an exaggeration of sorts.Jupiter infuses meaning, significance and wisdom.

If there’s a Mercury-Jupiter aspect contained in your birth chart, your mind has the potential to see the world from a wide lens view. If you’re able to develop this aspect, the results can manifest in someone who gathers information like a cook compiles ingredients for a recipe. Not only can you know all of the parts, but you’re intuitively adept at baking the whole cake. The gift of synthesis can be yours.

Mercury-Jupiter people have the capacity to enthusiastically examine a subject or situation and all of it’s inherent possibilities. This aspect reminds me of a scene from the movie “Love Jones”, when Nina asks Darius:
” So you just have all of the answers, huh?” and he replies: “No, just all the questions.” What we’re dealing with here is a wide ranging, philosophically inclined mind seeking to derive profound meaning from thought.

The typical challenge for the Mercury- Jupiter individual is practical application of lofty ideals. What people with this aspect need, arguably more than anything is clarity. If it’s absent, they may find themselves spouting sweeping generalizations based on a morass of unorganized information.

You’re not fully capitalizing on this planetary contact if you’re sitting in a smoking room with four other college professors or “intellectuals”, wearing your tweed jacket (complete with elbow patches), pipe in hand, pontificating about why we’re on this earth, with no structured plan in sight.

Mercury- Jupiter can negatively materialize as the person who thinks they know more than everybody. Accumulating knowledge for it’s own sake. Neglecting to prioritize relevance. The self-righteous pseudo-scholar striving toward blowhard status.

The relationship between these two planets is used most constructivelywhen you’re able to share your vast reservoir of wisdom with others, inspiring their minds to greater heights, igniting the spark of noble activity. Through your understanding, both yourself and others are able to generate efforts toward tangible worldly achievements.

Because of the orientation of your mind, the eclectic approach to learning can and will surely be employed. However, meaning must reign supreme. If one remains consistent in this view, a natural expansion of mind will occur, through the extraction of enlightenment from diverse systems of thought in order to create a comprehensive personal philosophy.

Mercury- Jupiter: your elevated ideals are held in high esteem.  Just remember that your keys are on the coffee table, gas is what makes the car go and reading by candlelight is out of vogue.
