Leo Sun, Aries Moon: “Hot Like Fire”

cropped-cropped-sagittarius-browns-circle

This Sun/Moon combination can be summed up by the phrase:  “hot like fire”.

Risk? No problem.

I know…. I know…. Why don’t we propose something that’s actually a CHALLENGE to you? You’re probably very familiar with the Jay-Z line : “difficult takes a day, impossible takes a week.”

Your true aspirations are fueled by recognition; of having others KNOW who you are because there’s so much creativity and SO many gifts enveloped in your overall self-expression.

Your Sun/Moon blend suggests an emotional need to have an impact on the world. To champion a cause with all of your passion and might, so that you win the war within yourself. To SAY you were there is never enough for an individual with this combination. There needs to be no doubts whatsoever about where and HOW you made your mark.

There’s potential to summon a warrior like courage to compete with yourself in becoming a personification of leadership. In addition, an opportunity to unearth a beaming, iridescent sense of confidence.

It’s important for you to understand that it could be difficult for others with a lower key orientation to adjust to your fiery style, and your charisma is best used in a generous and motivational capacity rather than allowing oneself to become a spectacle. If this is the case, you’ve gotten the cause confused with overblown distortions of the ego.

Realize that your ultimate strengths are packaged in the ability to yield flexibly and compromise so everyone has the opportunity to win together versus hijacking the victor’s circle to add to your collection of “hardware”.

Virgo Sun, Aries Moon : “Represent”

Image result for represent

To be precisely who and what you are without fear, doubt or trepidation is a major part of your life’s work. As we examine your Sun/Moon blend, we realize that you require those experiences which activate your courage and self-assertion. Deep down inside there’s a feeling of wanting to be “on top”. In fact, the adrenaline rush that comes with testing yourself is a form of nutrition.  Warrior-hood is embedded in your emotional framework, and it’s important to generate that part of you without thinking that the “product” has to be finished even before it starts.

With a Virgo Sun and Aries Moon, the work of personal improvement is done through resolute action and exposing oneself to challenge. When you engage life “head to head”, you actually have the opportunity to refine your mission and sharpen your steel.  In your maladaptive form, the thought of initiating something brings on anxiety and you leave yourself vulnerable to being “other” directed.

Virgo Sun, Virgo Moon : “The Upgrade”

Image result for upgrade

Your Sun/Moon blend suggests an approach to life emphasizing precision in the name of service.  Your core energy is geared toward  improving and fixing for optimal performance and you’re emotionally fulfilled by the same thing. Whatever you undertake you want to leave things better and working more efficiently than when you found them. Some will accuse you of being “nit picky”, but I say this is how you’re built.

With this Mercury ruled combination, your forte is analysis, the dissection of the parts in order to understand what goes into the operation of the whole. A common question which permeates your existence is “how can it be used?”. This applies to people, items, information and knowledge.  You’re a walking “Law number 33” from the 48 Laws of Power which says “Discover Each Man’s Thumbscrew”.

Generally when Virgo is mentioned, it’s overlooked, and there’s a certain beauty in that. With this energy comes the potential for astounding focus and attention to detail, so when other’s aren’t paying attention you ARE. So, you can also be attuned to the weaknesses of other people.

Operating from a constructive place with this knowledge, you can do what’s in your power to seek a better outcome for all involved. On a dysfunctional note, other’s shortcomings can be used as ammunition for criticism and belittling.

If you find that this is the case, a detailed analysis of oneself may be in order to make sure you’re not judging yourself too severely. With Virgo, an internalized criticism or need for perfection can often push outward, holding others to the exacting standards that one holds themselves to. With this comes anxiety as well as an appearance of the lack of tolerance for other human beings.

To have the patience to view oneself as a “work in progress” may be the best gift that a double Virgo can bestow upon themselves.  With this frame of mind, you can hit your ‘target’ and methodically move along to the next one.

Uranus – Midheaven (MC) Aspects in the Birth Chart : “Waiting on My Spaceship”

kanyespaceship

” Among his various possible beings each man always finds one which is his genuine and authentic being. The voice which calls him to that authentic being is what we call “vocation”. But the majority of men devote themselves to silencing that voice of the vocation and refusing to hear it. They manage to make a noise within themselves……to distract their attention in order not to hear it; and they defraud themselves by substituting for their genuine selves a false course of life.”

– Jose Ortega Y Gasset

Uranus aspects to the Midheaven, or MC are about going “above and beyond” to grasp your rightful place in the world.

These contacts suggest that your path to reaching that status can be unconventional, and is actually best served in that way. I liken this aspect to Kanye West, GLC and Consequence waiting for their spaceship to come in.

The Midheaven is the highest point a planet can reach in the sky. With Uranus contacting that area, you still want to “fly past the sky.” To do so, you must accept and integrate the archetypal Uranian energies into your overall self-expression.

If you possess these contacts in your birth chart, there’s a clear message that you must discern between what you’re called to do and be, and  what your family, friends, societal and cultural conditioning has told you that you “should” be.

By accepting this challenge, you’re immersing yourself in a lifetime de-programming process which can eventually free you of trappings which would otherwise stifle the actualization of your potential.

Uranian energy is restless, and it won’t go unheard.

Among other things, Uranus symbolizes the development of individuality, even in the midst of the collective.

The planet asks that we depersonalize and relinquish the need for society to like or approve of what we’re doing in favor of blazing our own trail. On paper, this sounds so lofty and high minded, but you’ll find that it takes tremendous internal fortitude to wrestle in the trenches and combat resistance from those who would rather throw you into a box to soothe their fears and insecurities.

In working with this aspect, It’s essential that you’re  aware “freedom costs”.

In myth, Prometheus, who is associated with Uranus, went against the dictates of Zeus and stole fire, because he thought it was unfair that only Gods possessed a divine spark and the power to create. He believed that human beings, as a collective should have this opportunity.

As a result of his theft, he was chained to a mountaintop, and left for an eagle to come every day and eat away at his liver. Every night, the liver regenerated itself and the eagle would come back and have it for breakfast. This didn’t kill Prometheus, but it kept him in a perpetual state of pain.

One of your tasks is to explore if the pain of being chained to a mountaintop with your liver exposed for breakfast is worse than the agony of ignoring and ditching your life calling only to be haunted by whispers of “if only” and  “shoulda, coulda”.

Keep in mind that the older we get, the whispers become more audible and tend to turn into screams.

To work successfully with these energies is to literally take “no days off until your spaceship takes off.”

When your spaceship comes for you, will you be prepared to climb aboard?

If you have this aspect in your natal chart, one of your theme songs is: Kanye West’s “Spaceship” featuring Consequence and GLC.

I think it captures the spirit of Uranus aspects to the MC, or Midheaven : restless and wanting to take off; the energy of catapulting to a place or creating niche that’s uniquely our own. We don’t want to be stuck folding clothes in the mall. We would much rather pursue something that’s a marker of our individuality, which puts a personal stamp on our field of endeavor.

Enjoy!!

Mars in Scorpio : “Liquid Swords”

Image result for liquid swords

Astrologer Darby Costello sums up the placement of Mars in Scorpio as a “deep water warrior”  and for good reason.

In our individual birth charts Mars’ sign, house placement and aspects indicate how we can potentially apply energy into the world at large. When I think about this placement, the first two words that come to mind are potent and effective.

The visual of this water sign Mars is a warrior flexing her or his “Liquid Sword”.

Astrology is holistic, so whenever a placement is discussed, it’s understood that it must be viewed within the context of the entire birth chart. The whole is always greater than the sum of it’s parts. However, I would like to discuss this placement on a general level.

Mars in Scorpio’s placement suggests that person would need to apply their energies in the world in a deeply penetrative manner.

To get to the bottom of things. Strategically directing focus toward investigative pursuits which are capable of fueling their emotional instincts and  spiritual power . The potential exists for one to assert themselves in ways which transform and regenerate themselves and others. The key here is to find something which will wholeheartedly engage passion.

“Mars in Scorpio stays below the surface until something comes along that can fully engage its energy. No matter how cool the rest of the chart, this planet goes for an intimate contact that will potentially transform both its “target” and itself. Once set off, it’s all or nothing. Anyone who is emotionally engaged will have their deepest strengths and weaknesses exposed, as will the Mars in Scorpio person. At it’s best, it’s immensely effective. Old outworn habits are eliminated, huge amounts of rubble burned, space made for new life to enter and grow. When things need to be brought to an end, cleared out, resolved, this Mars gives full worth.”

Mars in Scorpio also suggests vast reservoirs of physical energy which can be used in almost single-minded pursuit of a goal which you deem worthy of your efforts and ambition.

It’s also important to remember the constructive uses of the personal power and magnetic charisma that’s suggested by this placement. As it can be used to empower self and others to greater heights and deeper analysis, or dangerously to manipulate the psyche and emotions.

In this placement, there is an inclination to do whatever needs to be done and travel where mere mortals may fear to tread to harness bare naked reality. Whatever is found, no matter how grotesque or disturbing can be savored for it’s value and what’s useless can be discarded in the name of clearing space for a stronger replacement.

Mars’ realm also includes how sexual energy is applied, and those with this placement have the potential to use the sexual act as a vehicle or gateway to the depths of intimacy with another human being.

When the other two water signs,  Cancer and Pisces are spoken about, there is usually an emphasis on their deep sensitivity. While not nearly emphasized as much, because it may manifest behaviorally as suspicion or sometimes paranoia, Scorpio possesses the same gifts.

As we get back to the sex, Astrologer Stephen Arroyo explains about Mars in Scorpio:

“Sex opens doors for them to the kind of deep communication and intimacy that they crave and it is one thing in life that finally lets them get out of control in a releasing, relaxing way. Most people with this placement have a strong attraction to the emotional intensity of sex and the experience of being overwhelmed by such powerful and fundamental life energies and some regard a sexual relationship as an opportunity to explore a further dimension of feeling, which sometimes leads to personal transformation.”

Donna Van Toen expresses a similar view:

“Sex and Scorpio are well-nigh synonymous. However, that insatiably voracious sexual appetite is often only a mask for what Mars in Scorpio really wants, which is understanding. For someone to take the time to get close enough to see- and touch- the real person on all levels, and understand -physically, mentally, and emotionally- this, is the ultimate turn-on for Mars in Scorpio. “

As with any placement in our birth charts, it’s what we decide to make of it. The potential of Mars in Scorpio ranges from the highest heights to the lowest depths.

Scorpio Sun, Gemini Moon : “Investigative Reports”

Image result for Women Chess Grandmasters

A couple of weeks ago, I made the comment that many Scorpios I know would scoff at the laws contained in Robert Greene’s bestselling book “The 48 Laws of Power”.

Their reaction wouldn’t be geared so much toward the accuracy or inaccuracy of the strategies, but more so the public’s awe over tactics which are pretty much “basic” ingredients in the scorpion’s toolbox.

In writing about the Scorpio Sun/Gemini Moon blend, I’d like to call your attention specifically to law number 23: Concentrate Your Forces.

“Conserve your forces and energies by keeping them concentrated at their strongest point. You gain more by finding a rich mine and mining it deeper , than by flitting from one shallow mine to another. Intensity defeats extensity every time”

This Sun/Moon blend requires BOTH intensity AND extensity. It needs to DIG AND FLIT.

The combination of a Scorpio Sun and Gemini Moon in an individual birth chart suggests that this person is stimulated by plumbing the depths of life experience. Their core energy is geared toward investigating and penetrating their own, as well as others  motivations for living; to discover what makes them tick. Scorpio will leave no stone unturned if it means unearthing what’s hidden from the “average” person’s view.

This placement also suggests a fearlessness of the dark. The murky waters and dismal abyss which may be met along their journey is just ‘par for the course’. After all, human nature is comprised ofeverything: both light AND dark, and the “stuff scorpions hate” is when everything is buried which might be characterized as ugly, troublesome or taboo in the name of a “Leave it To Beaver” brand of existence. No… dinner isn’t going to be served promptly at 5:00 p.m. tonight. No… it’s not piping hot on the stove as Dad walks through the door. As a matter of fact, Dad may be at the Holiday Inn with his Administrative Assistant. Yeah… you get the picture.

The Moon in Gemini uses the sun’s light to reflect a personality which needs to adapt to ever changing conditions and classify the experienceDuality, diversity, ambiguity and flexibility nourish the individual with the Moon placed in Gemini.  While the core identity (sun) says: “dig deep, penetrate, probe and scrutinize”, the needs of the personality (moon) say: stretch, diversify, get out of the narrow confines of that tight space.”  After all, Gemini is an air sign and air needs to circulate. What happens when air gets closed up in a room for too long? It becomes STALE.

“Gemini moon desperately needs mental variety and learning of all kinds. But the primary challenge to them as they go through life is confronting this question: with all of these ideas and “facts” do I have any depthsof real knowledge, and with all this learning , have I gained any understanding?”

One of the keys to successful navigation of this sun/moon combination is to acknowledge the psychological need for deep investigation and interactions and the emotional need to classify the findings within a wider frame of reference. These needs must be synthesized.

There’s nothing which says we need to choose ONE all consuming passion in life. If we dig one mine deeply, who says the other mines have to be shallow? We must recognize that we’re just as capable of burnout via ”the big heave ho” as we are through trying to do too many things at once. There needs to be a friendly agreement between our capacity to both divide and concentrate our forces and apply the appropriate strategy when necessary. These two potentials need not be at war.

Within this blend, Scorpio can add depth and focus to Gemini’s sometime wayward attention span and Gemini can bring a dash of levity to Scorpio’s frequent journeys into life’s underworld.

Aries Sun, Aries Moon : It’s a Storm Comin’

arieswar

*Excerpt from the upcoming “Book of Aries”

There’s a storm comin’, and it’s in the form of a double Aries Sun/Moon combination.

It’s evident that your heart’s desire to make your mark in the world and your aspiration to develop courage and intestinal fortitude have tremendous potential to be “on the same page” if you’ll allow that power to operate through you.

For you, it’s important to realize that no Woman/Man is an island, and there’s indescribable value in understanding that it’s through your relationships that you have an opportunity to gain self-understanding. YOU wouldn’t be YOU without points of comparison.

You walk the fine line, teetering between firm assertion of your self-interest and what you feel you should give other people. The red hot potency of your identity won’t be denied and you’ll go great lengths to defend it.

The well worn path rarely has enough heat to activate the fire which stirs in your soul. You would much rather blaze a trail of your own for others to follow than fall in line as the proverbial “good samaritan”. Some of the questions which this combination asks is: Will you finish what you’ve started? How complete is the model that you wish to use to represent you?

Consider that during war, “retreat” can sometimes be used as a competent strategy and that to yield doesn’t always indicate weakness. In fact, it suggests a versatility which can allow you to accomplish feats beyond your wildest dreams.

“Intuition….. appears to be the extrasensory perception of reality.” – Dr. Alexis Carrel

The natal combination of a Cancer Sun and a Pisces Moon, suggests potential for empathetic and intuitive connection of the highest order.

Close your eyes and picture how your dryer’s lint tray looks after a large load of clothes has run its cycle. This is how this Sun-Moon combination absorbs feelings and vibrations from environments and other people.

There’s an unfiltered quality that surrounds this phenomenon which can lead to the deepest level of emotional intelligence or a soliloquy of chaos rooted in confusion due to the inability to distinguish your feelings from another individuals.

A Cancer sun’s stimulus is comprised of emotional security, nurturing instinct and heartfelt connections which contain a profound depth of intimacy.

The ease in which the skill of their lunar (moon) ruled reflection is displayed, is something which truly has to be felt. There’s probably not the quantity, nor the quality of words to do this gift justice. Cancer also symbolizes one’s memory. However, this is far from the plastic, cognitive one which has been drilled into our consciousness for the better part of our lives.

The crab represents the remembrance of one’s emotions, roots, ancestral and spiritual heritage. The memory of one’s foundation. All of these things bring Cancer comfort because they’ve found a place or “family” that they can belong to whether it’s blood or just purely ideological.

The Pisces Moon uses this  solar Cancerian fuel to create a personality where the reigning emotional need is an all inclusive love which transcends this earthly plane. There’s a craving for the dissolving of emotional boundaries and  total merging with individuals, or an entity larger than themselves.

This can result in the highest form of spiritual communion, but also manifest as addictive habits which are formed because of the need for that “high” state of being. The Victim-Savior game can emerge as a hazy, tangled and nebulous dynamic if the rescuing tendencies of this lunar placement are not guided in a constructive manner.

The Taurus Woman: “Take Your Time”

Her core: The sensual mother of the earth who aspires to maximize personal resources (spiritual, material, emotional).

Style: No fuss and natural. Unpretentious. What you see is what you get. She says what she means and means what she says.

Victor Status: Solid reliability with a steady temperament. You can rest assured that they same person you went to sleep with wakes up as the same individual.

Victim Status: Obstinate behavior due to fear of change. Wants to live life to the fullest, but in her dysfunctional state, hides from challenges which may drive her out of her normal and safe routine.

Relationship/Sexual Style: The faithful partner. The one who serves as the “grounding” of the relationship. An “If you do for me, I’ll do for you.” attitude. Sex wasn’t meant to designate certain body parts as “off-limits”. Once she heats up, she’s “on” for a while. Sight, sound,  smell, taste, touch. Incense, music and candles soothe her sexual soul, yet provide an earthy eroticism.

Where You Can Find Her: An art exhibit, doing voice over work, Pottery Barn, Depositing a check in the bank, A Wine Tasting,

Your theme Song is  “Take Your Time” by Pete Rock feat. Loose Ends

At optimum, you possess a heart which will quickly warm others up. Almost immediately, there’s a sense about you which expresses you are who you say you are. Although this energy isn’t boastful, it meets the world with a calm and serene self-assurance. In itself, this demeanor radiates a solid, consistent beauty.

When Taurean energy is operating constructively, we’ll rarely witness a more even keeled disposition. This does wonders not only for you, but for those around you, as you serve as a soothing agent in your immediate environment.

Libra Sun, Aquarius Moon : “Bridging The Gap”

Amsterdam

With the Sun in Libra and the Moon in Aquarius, your life is infused by aspirations of maintaining harmonious relationships with others, but this isn’t to come at the expense of your own individuality.  To sacrifice who you are, at your essential core, in order to please or placate is working backward.

You may find yourself with the need to find an avenue of expression for your many eccentricities.  One of your tasks is figuring out how to give “life” to your quirks and have meaningful encounters with others in the process.

Your core energy centers around maintaining equilibrium, and one of the most effective ways in which this is achieved is to pursue your own individuation, as that fulfills the needs of your personality.  While you may want to feel part of a “group” to feel sane, or even thought of as a “nice”, kind and just person, your ability to distinguish yourself FROM any group is also of paramount importance.

Issues of social consciousness and the welfare of humanity pique your interest and you can be suited to delve into them and serve as one who provides a contribution which is both diplomatic and organizationally effective.

In intimacy, it’s important to realize that differences between people can be celebrated rather than used as “bait” for discord.
