The Zodiac Signs: 12 Developmental Paths

colorful-colourful-outdoors-830829

For most of us, the art of Astrology has been simplified into a few “keywords” which describe personality or behavioral characteristics for each sign.

We’ve dug into Cosmo’s “Bedside Astrologer” or read Thelma Balfour’s “Black Sun Signs” and discovered valuable information in regard to how our signs operate in many different facets of life. So, we’ve learned how sexy Scorpio’s are, but never to cross them. Or, that your Cancer woman will have the house in order and dinner on the table at 6 pm. Even to never trust a Sagittarian with a secret, or to exercise extreme caution against allowing a Leo to borrow your mirror.

While all of these anecdotes have their place, it can become very deductive and limiting to human beings whose main focus consists of self-actualization and evolution. Our Sun signs are not only descriptive in the way that they offer insight into character, but they also represent twelve different paths of evolution and development.

Ladies and gentleman: your birthchart is not a mistake. Yes, we want to trade in our 12th house planets or our Moon in Capricorn, but these placements were bestowed upon us for a reason. Our charts are like a celestial toolbox. Given the situation, we need to be able to pull out the correct instrument. Life would be pretty tough if we looked in our containers and all we had was a set of twelve Ginsu knives when all we need is a hammer for that pesky nail. Our Sun represent the “skin” that we are growing into in this lifetime. The sign that we were given represents the most effective method, style or path of growth and development.

If your Sun is in Aries, you’re walking the path of the warrior. Initiating and acting courageously. Sometimes you have to embark on your journey alone. However, you’re flexing muscles that you never even knew you had. It’s not that warriors never become afraid; they just don’t allow this temporary fear from paralyzing their ability to take effective, decisive action. As an Aries Sun, you are straying from your path when you become too impulsive, acting in a “knee jerk” manner without thinking. Or, you fail to realize that the most intense competition will always be internal.

With the Sun in Taurus, you’re on the path of the builder. Stable and grounded. Using your common sense. Developing persistence to solidify and maintain a structure which “works”. Knowing that slow and steady wins the race and accuracy can never be sacrificed for speed. You have strayed from the builder’s path when you become too rigid. Using familiarity as a crutch
instead of a foundation. Making assessments of value based on how much “discomfort” or change will be involved.

If your Sun is in Gemini, you’re walking the path of the informer. The skin that you must grow into is that of a distributor of valuable information to humanity. You must “get the word” out and use a wide variety of communication methods. Network, make connections and become a “jack
of all trades”. Versatility is your middle name. The title of “eternal student” is your birthright. Your curiosity serves as a guide to keep you open to fresh ideas and perspectives. You have strayed from this path when substance regresses to gossip, trivia and idle chatter. Or, when your connections, become lost in ultra breezy superficiality. When you become compulsively addicted to skating on the surface of life because it’s so “fun”, it may be time for a self-check.

With the Sun in Cancer,  you’re on the path of the protector. Instinctively knowing what to do to make those around you most comfortable. Calming, soothing and nurturing. Letting those that you love and care about deeply know that you have their back. Creating a “safe space” for them to return to whenever they require such care. Embracing your family, whether biological or ideological and supporting your race, country and tribe. You’ve strayed from the path when the “itis” of nostalgia overrides the ability to be objective. When you become obsessed with the past and cranky because you’ve forgotten to create the same secure haven for yourself as you
have for others.

If your Sun is in Leo, you’re walking the path of the performer. Lights, camera and action. It’s time for you to shine. There is a deeply ingrained “star quality” bursting at the seams to be released. The skin that life is calling for you to grow into consists of maximizing your powers of self expression and allowing the world to stand up and take notice of who you truly are. Choosing to enjoy life in a playful and childlike manner. Exercising your sense of wonderment while maintaining a fundamental internal dignity. You stray from the path when you can no longer distinguish your true self from the “roles” that you’re playing. When you become compulsively addicted to praise and approval and your need for external stimuli has reached an all time high and you have to google “introspection.”

With the Sun in Virgo, you’re on the path of the perfectionist. You excel at being able to view the whole and dissect the parts. Amazingly adept at separating the genuine from a” fugazi”, you’re being called to step into any situation and use your powers of observation and analysis and improve the status. You stray from your path when others become “fix it” projects. Or, when you become self critical because you’re so obsessed with what you’re not, or what you “should be” instead of using your energy to actually become that.

If your Sun is in Libra, you’re walking the path of the moderator. You’re a natural at building bridges and alliances. Always appearing in your best light. The ultimate diplomat and “representative.” Charm and grace will never be strangers to your door. You possess extraordinary and refined aesthetic taste.Your’re being called to serve as a artistic authority in whatever area of life that you choose. You stray from your path when you become a chronic ‘fence sitter” when it’s time to choose sides. Or, when an unpleasant truth is necessary and you become too much of a “TACT-ician” instead of offering valuable assistance.

With the Sun in Scorpio, you’re on the path of the healer. Innately equipped for heavy, intense emotional experience. You eat realities for breakfast that would make the hardest thugs crawl up in a corner with a baby bottle. You’ve been through the trials of fire and have emerged reborn and ready to school these mere mortals on “transformation 101”. Life is calling you to fly at your highest heights because you’re well versed in the lowest depths. You stray from your path when you use your piercing insight to sting, manipulate or indulge in power games or emotional blackmail. When you use knowledge to “devour” rather than feed others.

If your Sun is in Sagittarius, you’re walking the path of the wise teacher. You are the embodiment of a true “Renaissance Man” or Woman. Your eclectic telescopic worldview is something to behold. Well-traveled and thirsty for all of the knowledge and experience that life has to offer, you turn expansion into an art form. Your guru-like ability to see the wholeness of life and the big picture deserves a round of applause that would make your Leo cousins blush. However,  you stray from your path when you think you have the copyright on truth. Yeah, you just know it all, don’t you? Well, let’s talk with your friends who paid for your bail. Or, your cousin who wired that money to Vegas so you could get back home to be at work on Monday morning. Dogmatism should not be your forte. Yes, Sadge you can get off your soapbox now.

With the Sun in Capricorn, you’re on the path of the achiever. You have a natural gift for organization which allows you maximum productivity. Because of your capacity for discipline and restraint, getting work done has never been an issue. In fact, you assume a natural executive like authority that makes it extremely easy to respect you. You are being called to embody timeless principles which are revealed in your outward status and success. The skin
you’re supposed to grow into is that of one who produces a tangible product that is worthy of his or her ambitions. You’re deviating from your path when you allow yourself to become cold, controlling and unfeeling in order to become “somebody” in the eyes of society. So, you’ve climbed that mountain and reached the pinnacle. Sadly, you’re all alone. Where did all the “slackers” go?

If your Sun is in Aquarius, you’re walking the path of the revolutionary. You’re being called to shake humanity out of their comfort zones. It’s you who needs to pose the questions regarding if people think and act the way they do because of societal dictates. Testing others and reminding them that walking familial, racial, political and social “party” lines can be poisonous to their mental health and registers at “rock bottom” on their freedom meter. Your skin is that of the catalyst and reformer. Forming perspectives to liberate those stuck in a proverbial rut. You’ve strayed from the path when true change becomes a novelty and you advocate being different just for the hell of it. When you’ve become a slave to rebellion and can’t recognize that your bondage is just as problematic as the person who’s constrained by the chains of convention.

With the Sun in Pisces, you’re on the path of the mystic. There is an ethereal quality that colors your aura so richly that when people ask you where your from, they’re not expecting to receive your answer in the form of a city, state or country. You have access to realms of the mind and spirit that most of us can only read or speculate about. Highly intuitive, you’re being called to be “above the clouds”. Your skin is comprised of exercising your gifts in selfless service to humanity and checking your ego at the door. Through your super powers of imagination and visualization, you can create in solid form. Dreams and symbols are as comfortable to you as that old faithful pair of slippers. You stray from your path when the world you create is mired in deception, haziness and smokescreens. When you choose to be the victim rather than the victor and use your fingers exclusively as pointing instruments in order to relinquish ownership for negative situations which are clearly of your own making.

Libra Sun, Aries Moon

attractive-beautiful-beauty-1001723

Your ultimate aspirations are connected to relational concerns and the “fuel” of rapport seeking. However, in your heart beats adrenalin, and the yearning to take risks which test your courage and warrior spirit.

You’re inclined to take the direct route when it comes to pursuing your desires, and need to realize that for you to do this in a truly independent fashion, some feathers will definitely get ruffled in the process.

A fact of life is : sometimes people get upset, and they’re going to have to remain that way until they decide to stop.

Though you would much rather navigate life with diplomacy and even handedness, one of your largest lessons is: to obtain the ultimate peace that you seek, sometimes WAR is necessary.

Your Sun/Moon blend suggests  an emotional need to lead. To pioneer in some area of life. To compete for first place, whether it’s an internal or external challenge.

Your resources are summed up nicely in a line from “War Games” by O.C. and Organized Konfusion.

“guerrilla warfare tactics issue unlimited access to ammo/ with fireproof camouflage apparel.”

With your Libra Sun,the part of you which wishes to exude refinement, harmonious speech and action , while using it as a social lubricant, has the potential to quell even the most hostile of situations. Consider this your “fireproof  camouflage apparel.”

While your “ammo”, which is reflected by your Aries Moon, is your sense of bravery and willingness to participate in the trenches of interpersonal combat if need be.

Taurus Sun, Aries Moon

beautiful-casual-contemporary-936126

You have the potential to create value and beautify your surroundings through sheer consistency. After all, there’s a certain serenity in others knowing what they can expect from you. Being “solid as a rock” is something that comes naturally, but keep in mind that  a rock can also be an immovable object that’s incapable of any flexibility, as sometimes yielding and giving way to the more flexible parts of your being is wise.

While the Taurean fuel composed of persistence and stamina assists in grounding the Aries propensity to start “with a bang” and then become bored, moving on to new frontiers to conquer, the fiery Arian influence contributes passion, which counters a tendency to regress toward possible inertia: simply seeking to do things the way they’ve always been done without examining if they’re still working or yielding the desired results.

What you’re really seeking to do with this blend is to have impact in the world without forcing or “ramming” your agenda down the throats of others, and see multiple possibilities, unlike a bull who only sees red and has blinders on.

You’re caught somewhere between : Fools Rush in”, “Haste makes waste” and “Courage is the power to let go of the familiar.”

Part of your lifetime work consists of helping these three to get along.

Venus in Pisces, Mars in Aries

beautiful-black-and-white-black-and-white-965467

You value what you can’t see with your eyes and you also sense subtle music which all of us can’t hear.

Like water, you’re adaptable and you can take on the shape of  whatever “container” you happen to be dealing with at the time, whether it’s a job, friendship or intimate relationship. Adaptability is one of your reigning strengths.

However, what you often experience is a conflict between empathy, i.e. walking in the shoes of others, and taking action which promotes your self-interest.

Your life questions center around whether you should be the “supportive one”, or passionately champion your own independence. You may find in time that your energy expenditure is most fruitful in developing your individuality, so you have more to give to another person. After all, you find your relational needs to be connected to merging and sharing mutual sensitivity.

A spiritual connection means a lot to you, but you’re also no stranger to the deep thrusts and eroticism, which you integrate into the whole. For you,  love should be gentle, but a little tinge of pain never hurt anyone, either.

So, in essence, your Mars/Venus blend is about the themes of not so much changing your shape to fit every container, but creating a container which is flexible and can accommodate your unfolding as a human being. You might even find that you need more than one container, or that there needs to be several. So what?

When it comes to flowing with the current of life, your potential is evident. Applying yourself toward pioneering courageous approaches to the expression of your “vibe” is also right up your alley.

You can relate with a subtlety which is adept, yet act swiftly. Both peace and passion are your birthright.

Astrology & Compatibility: Eliminating the Myth of the “Perfect Match”

backlit-couple-girl-965386

“Everything that irritates us about others can lead us to an understanding of ourselves.” – Carl Jung

Where intimate relationships are concerned, there seems to be an ongoing debate regarding the significance of zodiac signs and astrology in general.

Some think astrology is quite helpful as a tool for self knowledge and it’s ability to highlight the themes and tendencies which may be present in their personal relationships, while others cast astrology as containing minimal merit and even playing  on the naivete and desperation of individuals who are searching for answers as to why they cannot find their dream partner or soulmate.

In true Sagittarian fashion, I’m going to give it to you straight.

Astrology is a strikingly profound art. When used constructively, practically, and with honorable intentions, it can reveal a great deal of valuable information regarding our compatibility with another individual.

However, what it doesn’t reveal is the level of consciousness at which we, or the partners we are comparing ourselves with are living out in our birth charts. Astrology does not tell us how mature we are or how accountable we are for our behavior.

Image

In synastry,(a.k.a. relationship astrology) having a “good” chart does not let you off the hook in maintaining the relationship any more than having a beautiful front lawn excuses you from mowing and caring for it.

Conversely, while a “difficult” chart may indicate challenges, if addressed earnestly, the two individuals may produce an inseperable union built on integrity, trust and mutual respect.

If we truly plan on using astrology for guidance in dating and relationships the way it was intended, the best method of operation is for us to know ourselves first.

Let’s have our charts interpreted by a competent professional astrologer. Or, at the minimum, explore a reliable free website to obtain a copy of our birth charts.

Through active participation we will be vastly more equipped to delve into, and evaluate, with discrimination, the wealth of information available in books and cyberspace. It is a requirement that we develop a thorough understanding of our own astrological dynamics, or we will find ourselves forever uttering the dreaded sentences:

“I’ll never date a (insert zodiac sign) again” or
“I don’t date (insert zodiac sign)”

For example, let’s say that you are now praising the celestial gods because you’ve found your “ideal” Pisces Man/Woman, and it appears that you’ll never have to deal with the cold, remote and impersonal Aquarian energies that give you the heebie- jeebies.

Zodiac66

However, you never looked deeply enough into the totality of astrology to find out that he/she’s an Aquarius rising with a stellium of the moon, mercury and venus in aquarius in the 11th house. True, the individual may have a Pisces sun, but a major portion of their chart reflects the same Aquarian flavoring that you were so intent upon escaping from.

We may need to participate in some serious self-examination and ask ourselves honest questions regarding whether we’ve discovered another convenient scapegoat on which to pin our anxieties, insecurities and frustrations.

Or, we sincerely want to incorporate astrology as a viable system of assistance and insight, into our relationships.

Another point worth considering is: through astrological research,  we may  discover that what’s holding us back is US.

OUR fears, phobias, baggage, complexes, etc… which we have conveniently projected upon the Scorpios, Sagittarians and Libra’s of the world. Maybe we’re not personifying the highest energies of our individual planetary placements and relationships. Difficult to read? Yes. Worth considering? Also yes.

When we reduce or remove accountability from the equationand minimize the power of our own efforts at self-improvement, we have not only failed astrology, but more importantly failed ourselves.

Working in our best interest, we allow astrology to serve us as a tool, we don’t serve IT, coupled with the self-deception that some irreversible cosmic fate awaits us.

So, who is your astrological dream match?

The answer is YOU.

The better YOU that you’re becoming. The YOU that you’re sincerely and consistently working to improve. YOU, with all of your strengths, talentsgifts, flaws and challenges. The wiser YOU, who, through experience has become more enlightened, liberated from past hurts, and more loving.

The life-affirming and positive YOU, who is ready to embark on the journey of becoming fully engaged in relating to another human being in an honest, intimate and heartfelt manner. Respecting and honoring your individual destinies, while sharing a collective quest.

Know and become yourself, and watch your world expand.

Image result for getting hands dirty

In this world of shortcuts and quick fixes, we’re constantly being sold a narrative that we can get something for nothing. “Buy Now!! Pay Later!!” , is what the billboard reads. Or, the “go to” phrase of “work smarter, not harder” has permeated our psyches.  This isn’t to say that there’s no validity in handling tasks efficiently, or employing strategies that assist in maximum productivity. However, with all of this taken in consideration there’s still an understanding that someone has to get their hands dirty and do the actual WORK.

That someone is YOU.

What ignites your spirit and maintains your vitality, is the thought of making a significant impact in the world. Hence, your ultimate goal is to make a bold statement which puts an exclamation point on your right to exist and thrive as a human being. This work is done by owning your emotional need to achieve, and produce something tangible that you can constantly use, as a life structure, which reflects the diligence of your efforts.  The optimal environment for you to embark on this mission is one that contains strategies, organization, discipline, integrity and mastery as essential ingredients.

To understand that, in the world of goals, anything worth having rarely comes fast or easy, is something that you’ll need to file away both mentally and emotionally, and refer to often. Instituting the “love of labor” is a practice which can set you apart from other people, which is where you want to be. The more you’re able to “throw your hat into the ring”, with tasks and experiences that summon courage and calculated risk, the more life energy you’ll acquire.

In addition, it’s extremely important to banish the demons of fear and doubt which will attempt to tap you on the shoulder and tell you that something is wrong with you and you’re “behind the rest of us” because you’ve made the conscious choice to put in the work to get what you want. Remember: your efforts are designed to stand the test of time. If your work is solid now, the foundation which you’ve produced won’t be shaken by the first passing breeze or even more severe storms.

With your Sun/Moon combination, another valuable theme for you will be opening the door to that part of yourself which is “in charge”, and able to handle people and things. All too often, we project these qualities on others only to say: “I wish I was like that.” Or, “If only I possessed that type of assertiveness and bravery.”

GUESS WHAT?  You merely need to locate it.

Part of your work here is to allow yourself permission to desire: to want what you want without shame or guilt. After all, you have both the Sun and Moon in Cardinal signs. There’s an initiating,  spearheading and driving quality to Cardinal signs, complete with a goal-orientation.

Combining the innate enthusiasm and passion of fire and the persistence and common sense of earth, you can create a recipe for someone whose achievements, along with the life they’ve built for themselves carries the torch of endurance and valor.

There’s not much mystery in your music here, as your Sun/Moon theme song is “Work” by Gang Starr. You can listen to it right here:

Aquarius Sun, Aries Moon: “Revolutionary Warfare”

The Movement is upon us. Have you found your place in it?#LiveThatGardenLife . #Repost @liberationdestination ・・・ 😍 #wakandaforever

For those with this Sun/Moon combination, a portion of your liberation rests in taking the risk that deviating from the norm isn’t, in itself, a negative concept. In fact, the word “deviance” is simply defined as :

“The fact or state of departing from usual or accepted standards.”

For you, it can’t be stressed enough, not to confuse equality with sameness.

Your internal dialogue needs no outward sources of motivation as there is always some type of “competition” to be better, and more of what you are attempting to push itself toward fruition.  The prescription for your growth comes embedded in the realization that the emotional need to battle or wage war must be constructively directed and connected to something that’s much larger than yourself.

Simultaneously, there’s the recognition that you’re nobody’s clone and a generous portion of your own flavoring must be added to all that you do. It will certainly prove helpful to analyze to what ends your rebellion serves. An honest assessment should guide you toward the tempering or intensification of your behavior. It’s worth remembering that there’s a fine line between one who skillfully questions societal convention with a definite purpose and strategy in mind and a “crackpot revolutionary”, who’s hell-bent on operating half-cocked just to prove she or he isn’t “like the rest of us.”

Being able to make the distinction between emotional engagement and emotional entanglement is a crucial step in your development. It’s essential to neutralize erroneous beliefs surrounding your ability to feel, and that feeling working to your advantage.

Passion and strength of conviction are specific and necessary instruments of power and reflectors needed in your personality to accomplish your work of radical change and emancipation of self and others.

Astrological Compatibility: We’re PEOPLE, not Signs

Image result for happy black couple

Every now and then, I have to remind people: any two people, irrespective of their Sun signs are capable of having a successful relationship.

No matter what the chemistry (or synastry) looks like between the birth charts of two individuals, chances are, we’ll find ourselves having to make some adjustments when it comes to learning another person.

If we’re constantly going on and on about how we’ll never date a person of a certain sign or we “just don’t get along” with Scorpio’s or Capricorns, we may find that we create a self-fulfilling prophecy of sorts. Especially, if we have no desire to do the work which will actually help us arrive at the root of our issues.

Here are the facts; when it comes to ANY sign of the zodiac, they have their functional, or constructive expressions, as well as their dysfunctional or maladaptive ones.

If both parties are willing, and committed to aspiring to the highest expressions of what their signs (and entire birth charts) have to offer, then it’s entirely possible to have a fulfilling relationship.

Granted, there are definitely some relationships which may pose more of a challenge when it comes to day- to-day living.

Sometimes, in Astrological chart comparisons, we tend to forget about the actual PEOPLE involved and obsess over planetary placements, measurements, etc. It’s important to remember that everyone is bringing their unique histories and experiences to the party.

Family dynamics, cultural factors and environment also have to be considered along with the Astrology to identify the potential for compatibility.  We also must remember that despite the “shared” dynamic, the two individuals are still on their own distinct growth journeys.

More on this topic later…..

Venus in Aries: “Shooting Your Shot”

Image result for famu womens basketball

As we explore the territory that’s Venus in Aries, we do so with the understanding that Venus can’t be reduced or limited exclusively to “love” in one’s birth chart. There are far more associations which accompany the planet. However, for the purpose of this particular article, one’s idea of love, as viewed through the Venus in Aries lens, will be emphasized.

For those with Venus placed in Aries in the birth chart, love can be a battlefield, where you want to be number one with no question. Love can be a feeling of having to “fight ” for the object of your affection. Love is passionate involvement. Love is fiery. Love is independence. Love is victory. Love is risk.

Love is “shooting your shot”.

You have the potential to be the the “Love Warrior”.

Ideally, you have little problem being the initiator in forming relationships because (1) you don’t believe in wasting time and (2) there’s a dynamic thrust of identity projection at work. For you, personal relationships are a source of constant renewal, and the litmus test of the ones that serve you is how much motivation you feel to maintain them.

Independence is another key theme for you. Learning the lesson that: working in your own self-interest and selfishness are two different things will be of immense value to you in your journey.

When Archetypal Aries energy is present in intimate relationships, there’s a tremendous focus on impact: On the effect they’ve had on the other person. The continuous question is :”what’s new?”

A static existence without mutual independence is as debilitating as it gets.

The gist of an Aries infused relationship is: “take your resources and explore the world, and I’ll do the same.” Then, we’ll come back and share insights in a manner that benefits us personally and collectively.

In general, what you can provide and also what you expect from another, is a straightforward and shame-free manner of relating. Emotional directness doesn’t have to be a problem.Typically, this is a person who’s more concerned with affirmation of their being than apologizing for it.

Because of the focus on identity development, what the Ram seeks in a partner is someone who has found a source of  passionate involvement and stimulation for *themselves*.

Venus in Aries understands that to be deeply focused on what you love is to feel connected to the collective life force.

On a healthy level, the Venus in Aries individual desires to “push” their partner to fulfill potential. Always looking for ways to encourage stretching out of their comfort zone.

Dysfunctionally, they become obsessed with competition, feeling as if they have to continuously be “one up” as a source of psychological satisfaction.

Another appropriate question for Venus in Aries is: “How do I keep the fires burning?”

Aries energy is undoubtedly challenged with maintaining enthusiasm in relationships. With the natural ebb and flow of life, the initial “heat” which is automatically present in the beginning stages of a union must subside or take on a different form.

So, what will it be?

Do you choose air to fan the flames of your passions? More fire to set the world ablaze? Water to create steam? Or, earth to bring structure to your aspirations?

Great astrology raises effective questions.

Ultimately, no matter what you choose, know that you can, and are supposed to have an impact on your partner.

You have the capability to become a master motivator and a source of “juice”. Not only by your powerful words, but your life lived as a personal demonstration of how an identity and belief in a cause unfolds over time.

Venus in Aries also suggests a person that’s not adverse to risk in relationships.

Now, we return to the theme of  fearlessly going after the type of relationships which authentically suit your way of being: a.k.a.”shooting your shot”

Many years ago, I had the pleasure of coming across the work of Richard Idemon, an Astrologer who passed away in 1987. I picked up a copy of his book “Through The Looking GlassA Search For The Self In The Mirror of Relationships.”

One of the first ideas which captured my attention was that of our most fundamental need in human relationships being the re-validation of our basic myths.

We all have a “story”, or mythology of sorts that we carry around with us. This basic psychic ground is a significant contributor to our sense of self.  As a result, the patterns which we consciously or unconsciously create are those which are going to keep co-signing on our basic myth.

Those relationships which we may feel less comfortable, or even highly unsettled are those which challenge our basic ground.

However, if growth and evolution in relationships is what we truly seek, we must ultimately head in this direction.

There is an excellent example given in this book regarding the physical territory of animals, which can directly be applied to the psychic territory of human beings.

All animals have a basic physical territory that they will not deviate from. Even when chased by a larger, more fierce animal, which is sure to eat them alive, they will not leave this territory. In fact, the animal in question will run until he/she can’t run anymore and double back into the jaws of the pursuing animal rather than leave it’s comfort zone.

If we apply this same logic and scenario to our human relationships, we now see that most of us would rather be “eaten alive” psychically largely due to our need for safety. Pushing ourselves into the unknown constitutes a psychological death. So, in our discomfort, we resist change with all our might.

What we may have failed to realize is that we won’t be able to evolve into any relationship which does not support our existing myths.

If our mythology casts us as unlovable, undeserving, fearful human beings, our relationship patterns can’t reflect anything else. The only people that we’re able to accept into our worlds at this time are going to be continual confirmers of that reality.

Even if genuine love hit us head on like a Mack truck, we would not realize it, nor could we appreciate it because of our insistence to clinging to these outmoded patterns.

It’s only when we decide to renovate and expand our personal mythology that we’re able to open our universe to a broader array of possibilities.

There are two examples given of very different relationship models. The first model is the static model and the second is the erotic model.

With the static model, the basic intent is to stay safe. To avoid risk.  As long as there are no major shake- ups, everything will be all right. “Mrs./Mr. Jones and I have been together for 30 years and everything is in it’s place just the way I like it.” However, the question remains: have you and Mrs./Mr. Jones really been together 30 years, or just one year 30 times over?

The erotic model is far more riskybut the potential rewards are much greater.
Having Venus in Aries natally, the erotic model of relationships is much better suited to your inclinations.
The question is: are you up for the challenge?
The prime goals of the erotic relationship model are: intimacy and growth, variety, openness to change, open communications, trust, varied and shifting roles, independence, and adult-adult relating. The author goes on to suggest that there are probably ten percent of people who have a sufficient amount of the erotic in their relationship to keep them on their toes; to have them aiming towards deep bonding and personal transformation. As you peruse this food for thought, it may help to take inventory of your personal relationships and ask yourself where you fall in the spectrum.
What are the primary goals of your relationships? What do the relationship patterns that you’ve attracted into your life say about your personal mythology and your basic groundDo you wish to embark on the journey of changing your myth? If you’re not entirely happy in where you stand in this area, please understand that you can  begin anew with a legend for yourself which reflects the highest possibilities for creating the types of relationships which will enhance the quality of your life and ultimately contribute to your personal satisfaction.

The shot is yours to take.

Virgo Sun, Aries Moon : “Represent”

Image result for represent

To be precisely who and what you are without fear, doubt or trepidation is a major part of your life’s work. As we examine your Sun/Moon blend, we realize that you require those experiences which activate your courage and self-assertion. Deep down inside there’s a feeling of wanting to be “on top”. In fact, the adrenaline rush that comes with testing yourself is a form of nutrition.  Warrior-hood is embedded in your emotional framework, and it’s important to generate that part of you without thinking that the “product” has to be finished even before it starts.

With a Virgo Sun and Aries Moon, the work of personal improvement is done through resolute action and exposing oneself to challenge. When you engage life “head to head”, you actually have the opportunity to refine your mission and sharpen your steel.  In your maladaptive form, the thought of initiating something brings on anxiety and you leave yourself vulnerable to being “other” directed.
