Saturn-Moon Transits : “Emotional Boundaries”

adult-beautiful-dark-374053

When transiting Saturn makes contact with the Moon, themes of emotional boundaries, limitation and taking responsibility for one’s feelings are highlighted. What’s being asked of you, especially during this time, is to face reality- as well as any of your fears concerning what you need to be emotionally fulfilled.  Also, you’re being called to re-organize your response patterns and gain maturity in doing so.

One of the lessons to be learned from this passage is that feeling differently from those you may be close to, through familial ties or intimate relationships, doesn’t indicate a flaw in your character. It simply establishes the boundaries on how you experience the world versus how others do.

You may speculate that stating your feelings about what matters to you, in an authentic manner is subject to alienate you from others, and you’re right. However, this isn’t a period of time where you succumb to the whims of other people, no matter how close they are or claim to be.

Optimally, Saturn-Moon transits suggest a time of accepting responsibility for the model of the heart you’re creating with no apologies. Honesty and REAL responses can now fuel your growth toward construction of a life experience that’s more robust.

You have the potential to clear out any clutter which binds you to a painful past, whether that includes bitter resentment concerning the family, or harsh treatment from someone you ‘ve confided in and lowered your defenses for.

You may realize that what you need isn’t as complicated as you once thought, and your first inclination may be to criticize yourself for this, thinking that you lack depth. This is not the case. If anything, there’s an indication that you’re making an effort to cut through neurosis and stabilize your existence.

These transits illicit questions of trust: ‘Do I trust myself?” “Whom can I bear my intimate feelings to?”

In matters of love, you’re being challenged to negotiate feelings of giving too much and receiving too little. A ruthless inquiry to examine whether or not a scarcity mentality is present may be appropriate. Understand that there’s enough affection to go around for everyone in this world, and the urge to cajole, force or control to create the illusion of that will surely backfire sooner or later.

Venus-Neptune Aspects & Erotic Fantasy

Related image

From an Astrological perspective, it’s understood that it’s impossible to reduce a planet to exclusively ONE theme or function. This article is written from that perspective.

Although the planet Venus isn’t strictly about sex, it’s definitely part of the sexual “network” and included in that network  is the EROTIC.

Erotic is defined as: “relating to or tending to arouse sexual desire or excitement.”

In combining Venus with the planet Neptune, which is connected to one’s imaginative faculties and that which is largely invisible, we have a seductive and enthralling combination when it comes to sex. One which is frequently done, but is discussed less, and that’s sexual fantasies.

For those with Venus-Neptune aspects within their birth chart, their sexual life can manifest as a bit of a paradox: one is yearning for the most spiritual and transcendent type of love which includes unconditional acceptance and the revelation that there is a greater, all-unifying reason to be with a partner.

However, simultaneously, one’s mind and imaginative apparatus can be willing to entertain fantasies which have no limits or boundaries involved in what excites or titillates.

In other words, all of the typical constructs that are solidly in place in what we call REAL life, begin to diminish within the framework of the Venus-Neptune imaginative constructs.  There seems to be a correlation with enhanced arousal and free-flowing  ideas where sex and eroticism are concerned.

The way Venus-Neptune aspects can operate in a constructive sense is that a person has the opportunity to explore their sexual and erotic landscape on a broad level and discover that it’s connected to much more than the physical act itself. In fact, one may feel as if they don’t even NEED to engage physically with another person and the rich carousel of the mind will do just fine.

On the flip side of the coin, one must be careful not to succumb to the deceptive portion of Neptune which manifests as a convincing that there’s no value in the power of the tactile.

When this aspect is navigated well,  physicality, sensuality and a fluid imagination all take their rightful place and get their just due.

Mercury-Mars Aspects

Related image

When Mercury and Mars combine in a natal chart, this suggests a blending of one’s intellect with assertion and the application of will. This particular person is intent on using their mental capabilities to compete and win, and sometimes at all costs.

One of the reigning questions which this blend proposes is:

“what can I DO with this thought?”

Using this aspect successfully, one would take what they know and act on it. This is not necessarily what would be considered a ponderous combination as there can be abrupt speech which may even be labeled as rude by some, and an indicator of impatience.

However, there is a certain urgency to learn which may manifest as a request to “get on with it” or “get to the point”. Information or explanations that are “roundabout” in nature aren’t what they’re looking for.

When well developed, this can be the debate champ.  Highly skilled in verbal dexterity with an instinctive sense of where to “hit” in order to drive their points home while commanding attention for their intellectual prowess.

In it’s maladaptive state , Mercury-Mars can manifest as someone who has the audacity to chronically interrupt others because they think what they have to say is so much more important. Or, an individual who uses words as a violent weapon to purposefully injure others.

Sun-Mercury Aspects

Image result for curiosity

For those who don’t know, Mercury travels close to the Sun. So, at any given time, the two entities can never be more than 28 degrees apart. I’ve heard of many people who say they don’t “feel” like their Sun sign discovering later that they have Mercury in that sign since the only possible aspect between these two is the conjunction.

With the Sun blended with Mercury, there’s no separation between what provides one vitality and the tools of perception, learning, communication and analysis.  Knowledge of oneself and the world figure heavily in the formation of one’s identity. Thoughts are essential to this person’s life force.

In the Bible, in the book of proverbs, there’s a passage that reads: “As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he”. That sentiment is perfect for this aspect.

However, the difficulty occurs when the individual can’t distance themselves from the opinions that they hold and think that things MUST be a certain way because they say so.

A potential strength which can be developed is cultivating a mind of one’s own and wanting your thoughts and ideas to genuinely exemplify effort toward your intellectual development.

After all, a mind is a terrible thing to waste.

Saturn -Midheaven (MC) Transits: Defining Your Place in The World

Image result for black woman in crowd
When Transiting Saturn contacts the MC, this can be used as an opportunity for focusing on and bringing greater structure and definition to your ultimate aims in life.

In most cases, these goals are intimately intertwined with our vocation, or what we may view as our  life’s “calling” , which is symbolized by the MC.

The themes which you may be presented with during the length of this transit will undoubtedly consist of not only questions surrounding your willingness to commit, but also how hard (and practically) you’re willing to work and how disciplined you’re willing to be, which includes developing the outlook of delaying short term gratification for a more solid, substantial reward in the future.

Becoming ruthlessly honest with oneself about personal limitations is also a vital part of this transit.

Honestly seeking and gaining clarity about what you can realistically accomplish given the present circumstances is an indication of maturity. This is not the time to play silly games with yourself, but rather one to sober up and figure out where you wish to distribute your time and energy.

It’s important that you make it a point to devise a strategy which provides a solid foundation for your future endeavors. Responsibility, which is a keyword for Saturn simply means your “ability to respond”. So, the questions then become:

“In what manner do I wish to respond when it comes to solidifying my destiny in the world?”

“How can I clearly define my goals and my place in society?”

What you must know about this transit is that you won’t receive anything which is out of proportion with your efforts.  If you feel the need to cut corners and leave serious matters floating in the breeze than the results will surely reveal themselves in a way which glaringly highlights your need to make adjustments in that area of life. If this should transpire, the modus operandi is to consider this feedback from the universe of how you can become wiser and more skillful in addressing areas for development at the time they reveal themselves rather than passing them off as trivial.

The Saturn-MC transit is a great time to concretize yourself and work on a self-presentation that’s authentic as possible in the larger sphere of the world. You may find that this starts with a thorough examination of your upbringing. Keep in Mind that the MC/IC is an axis. So, in order for you to be successful in this endeavor, you must think about what needs to be preserved, and what also needs to be released regarding guidance you may have received from an authority figure in your life.

It may now be clear to you that parental, or other guidance was formed from a particular worldview which you may share a portion of, but you’re now learning to “parent” yourself and incorporate your own insights and experiences which will ultimately serve as your locus of control and guiding post for the rest of your life. The possibility also exists in becoming a parent in the literal sense.

One of the purposes of this period of time is to test you on how much of your public life, outer world and career has really been determined by your own definitions and how much has been dictated by societal mores, advising you what you should be when you grow up.

Ideally, NOW is the time in which you grow up and take a stand, sending the message to the world that you’re willing to ground yourself based on a definition of self, which is far from crystallized or rigid, but is sturdy enough to ward off those who wish to control you through their “fixed” image of you.

Now, your entire being must contain a fundamental center from which you operate. The key is to form a solid foundation which is the basis for providing direction, but also contains enough humility to consult with the wise and the trusted for periodic input when needed.

From a disordered perspective, this transit suggests fear and doubt of one’s capacity to gain influence in the larger world. Or, even anxiety behind taking on the responsibility of parenting. What could be developmental progress and gaining wisdom and maturity gets sidetracked into constant thoughts of lack. A feeling as if there’s not enough to go around and one is going to be left out of the equation of receiving the recognition they deserve.

It’s clear that one of the main areas of focus during this transit is prioritizing the actual work, over accolades which you may feel are warranted.  Planning with a clear head and a realistic vision about what and where you would like to “master” or “professionalize”, and the efforts that are required to get there is a productive use of this planetary passage.

You may be pleasantly surprised at the quality of the results, which will be directly reflective of your degree of personal integration and organization, as well as your attitude toward confronting and neutralizing obstacles which may appear along the road to self-actualization.

When successfully navigated, the efforts put forth t this time can lead to the heights of prominence, which from the traditional Saturnian point of view reflects a broader base of influence , authority and a significant increase in public trust because you’re now presenting yourself as someone who is undivided in thought, word and deed.

In order to be on friendly terms with Saturn, we must be willing to do things which will most likely make us uncomfortable. We must resist succumbing to what demands the least out of us and put forth the time and energy that’s worthy of our refinement. We must also ultimately own the quality of our endeavors. If there’s anything which we feel we’ve outgrown, or isn’t worthy of our time from a developmental perspective, the most constructive course of action would be to leave it alone.

The key is to emerge from this transit with a clear, explicit direction and the intestinal fortitude to serve as your own leader, and to let your example speak for itself.

*Note: I don’t specify the particular aspects to Saturn, as my focus is more on planetary contact, so any major aspect (conjunction, square, trine) is applicable as far as this transit is concerned.

Uranus – Midheaven (MC) Aspects in the Birth Chart : “Waiting on My Spaceship”

kanyespaceship

” Among his various possible beings each man always finds one which is his genuine and authentic being. The voice which calls him to that authentic being is what we call “vocation”. But the majority of men devote themselves to silencing that voice of the vocation and refusing to hear it. They manage to make a noise within themselves……to distract their attention in order not to hear it; and they defraud themselves by substituting for their genuine selves a false course of life.”

– Jose Ortega Y Gasset

Uranus aspects to the Midheaven, or MC are about going “above and beyond” to grasp your rightful place in the world.

These contacts suggest that your path to reaching that status can be unconventional, and is actually best served in that way. I liken this aspect to Kanye West, GLC and Consequence waiting for their spaceship to come in.

The Midheaven is the highest point a planet can reach in the sky. With Uranus contacting that area, you still want to “fly past the sky.” To do so, you must accept and integrate the archetypal Uranian energies into your overall self-expression.

If you possess these contacts in your birth chart, there’s a clear message that you must discern between what you’re called to do and be, and  what your family, friends, societal and cultural conditioning has told you that you “should” be.

By accepting this challenge, you’re immersing yourself in a lifetime de-programming process which can eventually free you of trappings which would otherwise stifle the actualization of your potential.

Uranian energy is restless, and it won’t go unheard.

Among other things, Uranus symbolizes the development of individuality, even in the midst of the collective.

The planet asks that we depersonalize and relinquish the need for society to like or approve of what we’re doing in favor of blazing our own trail. On paper, this sounds so lofty and high minded, but you’ll find that it takes tremendous internal fortitude to wrestle in the trenches and combat resistance from those who would rather throw you into a box to soothe their fears and insecurities.

In working with this aspect, It’s essential that you’re  aware “freedom costs”.

In myth, Prometheus, who is associated with Uranus, went against the dictates of Zeus and stole fire, because he thought it was unfair that only Gods possessed a divine spark and the power to create. He believed that human beings, as a collective should have this opportunity.

As a result of his theft, he was chained to a mountaintop, and left for an eagle to come every day and eat away at his liver. Every night, the liver regenerated itself and the eagle would come back and have it for breakfast. This didn’t kill Prometheus, but it kept him in a perpetual state of pain.

One of your tasks is to explore if the pain of being chained to a mountaintop with your liver exposed for breakfast is worse than the agony of ignoring and ditching your life calling only to be haunted by whispers of “if only” and  “shoulda, coulda”.

Keep in mind that the older we get, the whispers become more audible and tend to turn into screams.

To work successfully with these energies is to literally take “no days off until your spaceship takes off.”

When your spaceship comes for you, will you be prepared to climb aboard?

If you have this aspect in your natal chart, one of your theme songs is: Kanye West’s “Spaceship” featuring Consequence and GLC.

I think it captures the spirit of Uranus aspects to the MC, or Midheaven : restless and wanting to take off; the energy of catapulting to a place or creating niche that’s uniquely our own. We don’t want to be stuck folding clothes in the mall. We would much rather pursue something that’s a marker of our individuality, which puts a personal stamp on our field of endeavor.

Enjoy!!

How To Work With Planets Aspecting Your Ascendant

SunConjAsc

Our Ascendant, A.K.A., rising sign is one of the most important angles and very personal part of our birth charts. The Ascendant is our filter for processing our life experiences. It helps in the coloring and flavoring of perception,   as well as serving as a particular type of vehicle (based on sign) we use to navigate through life.

It would stand to reason that whatever planet or planets that come in contact with the rising sign are there to serve us as developmental tools in formulating our overall worldview.  On a technical level, the “rising” sign is the degree and minute of the zodiac sign which was rising in the east at the exact moment of our birth. It’s a very sensitive point in the birth chart, so an accurate time of birth really helps in its determination.

When a planet makes contact with the Ascendant, it’s important that we consider how the nature of the planet, expressed in a healthy fashion can contribute to our overall self-projection.

In the chart above, you’ll see that the Sagittarius Sun is in a tight conjunction with a Sagittarius Ascendant. What this suggests, is that this individual’s vitality and life force are unified in their approach to the world. In essence, the type of fuel they need to operate effectively is in alignment with their aspirations and the growth experiences they need for ultimate self-discovery.

Also, the Sun and Ascendant being in the same sign, would suggest that this person identifies strongly with the archetype of that sign. At best, there is an authentic “what you see is what you get” type of vibe. Operating in a dysfunctional manner, excessive attention seeking and hubris is hard at work.

If you have a planets making aspects to your Ascendant, study the planetary symbolism and think about ways you can honor it by integrating it into the package that is your total self-projection and the development of your identity.

Mars-Neptune Contacts in Synastry= ” And On the Count of three…Everybody Run Back to Ya Fantasy”

incense

©2016 by Sagittarian Mind Consulting

Most hip hop fans are familiar with Common’s 2005 album “Be”, and his song featuring Kanye West entitled “Go”.

” And on the count of three…everybody run back to ya fantasy…”

When I think about how Mars relates to Neptune in a synastry chart, this song struck a chord with me IMMEDIATELY.

Mars literally symbolizes our “GO”.  It represents our drive, action and our efforts to obtain what we desire, whether it’s the fulfillment of cherished goals, status, power or SEX.

Neptune’s energy is slippery, ethereal, nebulous and boundless. Something we can’t quite put our finger on. Frankly, it can be difficult to grasp.

So, what’s the dynamic look like when there’s Mars-Neptune contact between two individuals?

On the constructive side, the potential is immense for a couple to dream together actively. An unconditional and steady support of each partner’s aspirations can be honored with this planetary pairing. Mutual creativity and inspiration may abound which springs from the feeling of being connected to the whole of life.

Both people have the potential to motivate one another to transcend the constraints of living a one dimensional existence, or a life rigidly defined within linear limitations.

Sexually,  a potent thrust of idealism and a “sixth sense” psychic connection can serve as the golden threads which permeate the relationship. There may be the feeling that one has discovered the PERFECT sexual union. That your partner touches you just the right way, utters the poetic, yet nasty words that excite and enchant you and whose movements mesh with the rhythms of your body.

The potential challenge, or even downfall can emerge when you depend on sexual liaisons to act as the exclusive sustainer of the relationship. You may become engulfed in a morass of haze, indecisiveness and confusion as to where you actually stand with your partner, as to what it all means now.

Although great sex may provide a temporary “high”, your intoxication may lead you to ignore  issues which continue to increase in their significance and bubble over as a result of your neglect.  When the smoke has cleared you may wake up and find yourself depleted of the energy it takes to honestly and squarely address your issues.

The remedy here is to couple up and use your collective powers of discrimination to understand the difference between fantasy as a form of creativity and journeying into the interior of one another’s psyche, and a lingering addiction or escape from reality which can severely block the flow of authentic intimacy.

So….at the count of three, you can run back to your fantasy, but it’s up to YOU to decide what the contents of that fantasy will be. The health of your relationship depends on it.

Venus-Uranus Aspects : “Nobody Like Me”

blurred-background-close-up-crosses-897314 (1)

“You’re not like anyone else I’ve ever met.”

In some cases, we could easily dismiss these words as trite and inconsequential “game” designed to cater to one’s ego. However, when operating in an obvious manner, Venus-Uranus aspects in one’s birth chart remind us that one could utter this statement, and it would be absolutely TRUE.

Chances are, if you’re working with this aspect, you really don’t care whether statements like that are meant to flatter you or question your “weirdness”. The fact is, you need to own it and live it.  In an individual birth chart, Venus in contact with Uranus suggests the valuing of that which is unconventional, offbeat and avant-garde. Your radar is honed toward customizing your life and relationships in a matter that screams authenticity.

However, the flip side of the coin is that you shock and ruffle the feathers of conventional society. The rebel inside of you is constantly seeking new ways to live YOUR life. Not a re-run of your parents’ life, your friends or anyone else. The cookie cutter lifestyle isn’t a part of your agenda and you make no bones about letting everyone know that.

Almost every day, inside your spirit, there’s a revolution going on. For you: revolution means evolution and the only constant that we can count on is change. You silently laugh at others opinions about your relationships and personal style and appearance, and you scoff at those who live in these spaces by rote and couldn’t conjure up an independent thought to save their lives.

If you’re exercising the potential of this planetary aspect, you’ve most certainly crafted your unique version when it comes to attraction and love. Somewhere along the line, you’ve had to come to grips with the fact that your friends and associates may not ever understand that you might not need the ring, gated community and the ski racks on your car. Hell, you may not even need the car! You can best believe that anyone you’re relating to as an intimate partner understands this, too. Or, your relationship will end just as quickly as it started.

Living freely and spontaneously and resisting labels and boxes is one of your fortes. You know the secret that us mere mortals are trying to grasp: from breath to breath and moment to moment, we’re different. From one blink of an eye to the next, we’re never the same anymore. So, what you uttered in fervent conviction two hours ago may be something which meets the fury of your disdain at this very moment.

What we can learn from you is to embrace the willingness to approach our lives from a fresh perspectives, always examining what we can possibly breathe new life into and reinvent. We can also learn about the ramifications that impulsive behavior and rebellion for sport has on personal productivity.

Mercury-Venus Aspects

When Mercury and Venus team up in a birth chart , the potential of the “smooth operator” is born.

These planets can never be more than 75 degrees apart in a natal chart, so therein lies the possibility of three different aspects: the conjunction, semi-square and sextile.

The “gift of gab” is a strong possibility, and yes…. using this aspect constructively, Billy Dee would be proud.  The potential ability to use words in their most beautiful and refined form is highly pronounced.  Pleasant vocal tones don’t hurt either.

Mercury-Venus contacts suggest that one instinctively understands the intricacies of the “love language” and you could turn their distribution into an art form through writing or speech.
