The poetic signature which permeates through your life has the potential to catapult you to new heights of genius and inspiration, or contribute to a severely disillusioned and misguided mentality. There’s no doubt that you seek truth in ways which encompass all of your senses, and trusting your ability to intuit is important. This Sun-Moon combination suggests a pronounced strength holistic thinking. However, let’s not forget that the FACTS and DETAILS are just as important during your quest for spiritual understanding.

Hopefully, throughout your life, you’ll learn the necessary lessons surrounding seeing things in an ideal state vs. dealing with the concrete reality which exists right in front of your face. For you, the “power of the now” can be an exhilarating time and have life-changing ramifications.

Just as it nourishes your foundation to travel physically, spiritually and emotionally, it’s of equal significance to take what you’re learning and water the seeds of human progress. Ideas are rarely a problem, as the scope of your intellect is designed to become broad and telescopic. In fact, I would dare to say that you’re one of those people who’s able to find meaning in just about everything. To you LIFE is a symbol within itself: signs, synchronicity, and messages from “beyond” assure you that there’s no such thing as a coincidence, only divine timing and you may even consider the concept of TIME to be an illusion.

It’s obvious that your aspirations are fueled by influencing thought and elevating spiritual awareness, the question which remains is how you go about doing this. Your answer will be highly personalized, but it must include a strategy for translating the language of the higher mind to those who feel trapped in the mundane sphere of dead end jobs, never ending bills and relationship woes.

Make peace with the “instructions” that flow through you and accept that feelings and judgments from those around you may be less than ideal. There’s a sensitive spot when it comes to having your philosophies and opinions valued and respected, but do not allow this to distort your vision of clear sighted truth.

Faith is your ally, and as long as you sincerely operate from your center with pure intentions, humanity has a true friend in you.

For this combination, the importance of nourishment derived from interior energies is as vital as the air we breathe.

After all, that’s the fuel you depend on to sustain yourself through everyday interactions with the world at large. Regular intervals of solitude are more a necessity than an indulgence, as they help you recharge your battery and clarify emotions. Behind closed doors, in the privacy of your heart is where you may experience a vivid spectrum of feelings from joy and elation to anger and grief. You regard your fortress of solitude as your “safe space”.

The potential exists to discover your true spiritual aspirations via the nurturing of your center. Authentic security is the “launching pad” which breathes life into a colorful imagination and an identity which is able to convey the language of idealism.

Your adaptability can serve you as a tremendous asset, as it’s possible to  adjust to the shape of the myriad of “containers” that your presented within your life sphere.

Gifted with an internal GPS (Global Perception System), you’re adept at translating mere words into the realm of emotional linguistics. A finely crafted antennae for soaking up mood and atmosphere is your birthright.

On a regular basis, You will undoubtedly be challenged to pull yourself out of your subjective “shell” and realize that just because you feel a certain way about a particular person, issue or situation doesn’t mean the entire world shares your sentiments. There’s something to be said for incorporating a measure of  detachment in your personal affairs.

One of your most prominent life lessons is that everything doesn’t require, or even deserve the same level of emotional involvement.  Healthy integration surfaces when you’re able to discern the flow of input and output needed and refine it to suit your interests.

You possess the capability of catapulting unconditional love  and acceptance to new heights, welcoming those who are deserving into your “family” or inner circle with open arms once they’ve passed your litmus test.

In your world, it’s only right that the vulnerability displayed on your part be accepted by others as a rich and rewarding gift. Instinctively, you hope that the recipient(s) will meet your desires with equal intensity. If not, the results won’t be so pretty.

At worst, you can resign yourself to the status of a brooding victim, or the “walking wounded”. You can become so engulfed in both legitimate past hurts and imagined slights that you delude yourself.

A futile search is launched for someone or something outside the self to rectify your internal situation. You start looking for the next big thing to latch on to as a means of escape from the realities you’ve yet to confront.

Consider finding a functional and constructive channel to provide an outlet for your deep feelings and artistic inclinations. Often, it can exist in the form of service which heals. Helping others to navigate the areas which activate their fears and insecurities. When it comes to this terrain you’re far from a novice.

“Intuition….. appears to be the extrasensory perception of reality.” – Dr. Alexis Carrel

The natal combination of a Cancer Sun and a Pisces Moon, suggests potential for empathetic and intuitive connection of the highest order.

Close your eyes and picture how your dryer’s lint tray looks after a large load of clothes has run its cycle. This is how this Sun-Moon combination absorbs feelings and vibrations from environments and other people.

There’s an unfiltered quality that surrounds this phenomenon which can lead to the deepest level of emotional intelligence or a soliloquy of chaos rooted in confusion due to the inability to distinguish your feelings from another individuals.

A Cancer sun’s stimulus is comprised of emotional security, nurturing instinct and heartfelt connections which contain a profound depth of intimacy.

The ease in which the skill of their lunar (moon) ruled reflection is displayed, is something which truly has to be felt. There’s probably not the quantity, nor the quality of words to do this gift justice. Cancer also symbolizes one’s memory. However, this is far from the plastic, cognitive one which has been drilled into our consciousness for the better part of our lives.

The crab represents the remembrance of one’s emotions, roots, ancestral and spiritual heritage. The memory of one’s foundation. All of these things bring Cancer comfort because they’ve found a place or “family” that they can belong to whether it’s blood or just purely ideological.

The Pisces Moon uses this  solar Cancerian fuel to create a personality where the reigning emotional need is an all inclusive love which transcends this earthly plane. There’s a craving for the dissolving of emotional boundaries and  total merging with individuals, or an entity larger than themselves.

This can result in the highest form of spiritual communion, but also manifest as addictive habits which are formed because of the need for that “high” state of being. The Victim-Savior game can emerge as a hazy, tangled and nebulous dynamic if the rescuing tendencies of this lunar placement are not guided in a constructive manner.

Pisces Sun, Scorpio Moon : Depth Perception

Depth \’depth\ : (1) a part that is far from the outside or surface. (2) a profound or intense state (as in thought or feeling)

Perception [per-sep-shuhn] : immediate, or intuitive recognition or appreciation, as of moral, psychological or aesthetic qualities; insight; intuition; discernment.

Let’s face it: There’s a language which exists in this world that mere words and logic can’t quite encompass. In fact, this orientation views what’s spoken as somewhat of a limited dimension.

Those who are severely critical of or deny this realm altogether would like nothing better than to have everything conveyed to them in a nice, neat verbal package. However, the inhabitants of this world notice the nuances;  the simple gestures. Maybe a glance, or a shift of the eyes, a tightening of the brow, or a halfhearted grin.

Welcome to planet intuition.

In a birth chart, when the Sun is placed in Pisces and the Moon in Scorpio, we have a combination which exudes depth perception at it’s finest hour.

The core life energy of the Pisces Sun consists of the desire to transcend the earthly plane and return to it’s source of divinity. To unify, merge and dissolve the barriers which restrict our connection to the all that is.

Within this placement there’s a psychological need to reach a more elevated state of being. However, this “high” can be reached by anything ranging  from transcendental meditation to hallucinogens and alcohol.

The suggestion here is to let go and detach the ego from the life expectations and outcomes which leave some of us tightly wound and stiff as a board.

The Piscean question is: If we’re already one with the universe, and have what we need, why do we strive to gain dominance in this dense material world?

This fluidity allows Pisces to readily assume the shape of it’s container, but if this inclination is left unchecked, one’s own identity development can be severely impaired.

Because of this universal identification to humanity, the Pisces Sun exudes a compassion and empathy which seems as if it’s pervaded the bloodstream of the collective. There’s  a delicate sensitivity present which ranges from the heights of human nobility and victory to the lows of tragedy and suffering. Pisces sees life in terms of an expanding sphere as opposed a straight line.

The Moon in Scorpio uses the Sun’s energy to reflect a personality whose reigning emotional needs consist of  deep and profound contact with life’s regenerative forces. Passionate involvement with anything which will aid in self-transformation is the “food” which nourishes the lunar scorpion.

Whether it’s an intimate relationship, or a cause that’s near or dear to their heart, immersing themselves wholeheartedly in a focused manner is a necessity. There’s a penetrating quality to this placement because of it’s commitment to the truth.

We’re not talking about the Bobby Mcferrin’ “don’t worry, be happy” version of the truth. More like grave, taboo, forbidden truths which resonate in our guts that we would rather not hear about. Scorpio knows that to live fully and authentically, they must embrace both the light AND the dark. As Astrologer Stephen Arroyo states:

“An inner confidence can often develop when they consciously realize that, if they can overcome excessive fear and paranoia, they can be guided by inner convictions and intuitions that often prove extraordinarily accurate.

In fact, many of the most successful people who have lots of Scorpio attunement reach their potential by increasingly allowing their“gut feelings” to guide them. A passionate sense of purpose or mission in life can then support a healthy positive self-confidence; and their mystique and charisma will reflect this inner certainty.”

When this sun-moon combination is operating in a dysfunctional manner, it manifests behaviorally as someone whose boundaries are so permeable that they’re not able to distinguish where they end and another person begins.

Someone who has spent an incredible amount of time shape shifting in ideas and identity that they lack a firm center or operational base for their individuality to be involved with the mundane affairs of the world.

In addition, the individual can be emotionally withholding because of fear that the world is an unsafe place. Using their insecurity as motivation and rationalization to control the thoughts and activities of others through emotionally manipulative tactics.

An optimum expression of this blend manifests as an acutely perceptive individual who uses psychological insight to heal others and assist in identification of deeply rooted patterns which may be stifling an otherwise rich life development.

Someone who uses the dark as a segue to the light. An individual who exudes their emotional reserves to engage with life at the deepest level while simultaneously flowing with the principle of unity which binds all things.

Pisces Sun, Taurus Moon

In an individual birth chart, when the Sun is in Pisces and the Moon in Taurus, the fuel which provides stimulus for this person is that of spiritual liberation. Essentially, what motivates this individual is the desire to transcend the earthly plane and do creative work in the intangible and ethereal worlds. In fact, the human body can be viewed as a “prison” or trapping of sorts.

The Piscean potential for intuitive flow may allow them to just “know” that there’s more than meets the eye than this “gross and heavy reality” that’s being presented to us. This placement also suggests a capacity for highly developed empathy. When a person with a Pisces Sun says: “I feel you”, chances are: they really do. One of the best things about this is that it’s usually in a non-judgemental manner, seeking only to listen and understand.

The Taurus Moon uses the light of the Pisces Sun to form a personality whose emotional needs center around stability and security. Basically, this equals keeping things as they are and holding life’s surprises to a bare minimum. The Moon, when placed in Taurus suggests a capacity for sensual enjoyment of everyday, routine things. The lunar Taurean is nourished by what’s familiar to them.

For those with the solar/lunar blend of Pisces/Taurus, it certainly raises a few challenging questions: How can I do creative work that’s “otherworldly”, spiritual and transcendent and stay rooted to a semblance of familiarity? How can I enjoy the sensual pleasures of the body as my emotional needs require without becoming a slave to its importance?

On the underdeveloped side, the Pisces Sun’s fuel to move “far away from here” can resonate so strongly that the dangers of cloudy judgment exist. There may be an inclination to get “high” by any means, and in the boundless world of Pisces, nothing is off limits: drugs, alcohol, sex, fantasy, incessant television and anything which will provide an escape hatch.

Meanwhile, a potential downfall of the Taurus Moon has it’s roots in inertia. When unchecked, a natural gravitation toward the known has potential to morph into an extremely static and conservative approach to life. The line of thinking here is that life itself will somehow freeze if you do nothing differently in your individual world. However, there’s a strong possibility that you’ll see that day when you get up off the couch, look out the window and realize the world is passing you by.

A productive use of this Sun/Moon blend is grounded spirituality. Embracing the sense of awe and the creativity which comes with the recognition of life’s unity. This goes for ALL creatures great and small. To show gratitude in everyday mundane experiences.

While it may be nice to float off to the fifth dimension, you must know that rich and varied spiritual experiences can be had right here on the ground. Furthermore, your physical body is a vehicle and vessel to assist you in your earthly work- not your enemy. In order to maximize its use, it’s advised that you remove the prison bars from your mind. You can still get “far away from here” ON EARTH.

When a Virgo Sun and a Pisces Moon are combined in an individual birth chart, there’s immense potential for self-improvement and personal refinement via the use of one’s intuition and participation in the intangible realms of life.  The solar/lunar synthesis represents the invisible made visible and the ideal made real.

Very few things are more satisfying than to shape a concept or a dream and then give it physical form so that it manifests with solid physicality. This combination offers that opportunity.

The type of fuel this person requires is discriminating and practical; complete with high octane analytics.  It’s the dissecting of systems or people in service of more efficient operation.

The solar energy is reflected in a lunar personality which has an emotional need to assemble all of the pieces together and bridge any divisions between themselves and the spiritual source from which they originated.

The key to navigating this blend successfully is to shape inspirational and creative ideals into functional form; to not only visualize but to actualize.

A dysfunctional expression of this combination can suggest more dreaming and less doing, or the feeling that inspiration, without perspiration or preparation will be enough.

It’s important for natives with this blend to understand that floating on feelings of utopian bliss can only take you a portion of the distance you need to go to engineer your visions. If nothing more is done, you may be chasing castles in the sky or living in a fool’s paradise.

Conversely, the portals that contain the fluid and boundless flow of intuition must be kept open and not overly stifled via the allowance of the hyper-logical, or the straitjacket of conceptual incarceration,  into one’s creative realm.

8/11/73: The Night That Changed The World: The Birth Chart of Hip Hop

4elements

©2014 by Sagittarian Mind Consulting

One of the ideas surrounding Astrology is that everything has a birth.Whether it’s a person or an event, the placement of the planets at any given moment in time reflects the nature of that moment and whatever is born will embody the qualities of that particular time.

To say that August 11, 1973 changed the world would be a gross understatement.

What initially began as Cindy Campbell’s end of summer/back to school Jam for a few children in a rec room at 1520 Sedgwick Avenue in the Bronx, turned into her brother, Clive Campbell, better known as Kool Herc, hot wiring the base of a street lamp to juice up his Herculoid speakers for three thousand people. The party eventually had to be moved from Sedgwick to Cedar Park. (Source: Joe Conzo)

Since this time, a large number of us have witnessed hip hop expand into a culture of mythic proportions.

There are very few parts of the world or avenues of expression which hip hop hasn’t affected and we see it’s influence alive and well every day as we board the subway trains, listen to our radios, turn on our ipods, or flip the channels on the television remote.

All of this being said, the questions are: how has hip hop handled this massive growth and transition? What’s next for the culture?  Will the jam at Sedgwick ave always have a place in its heart?

Hip hop was born on August 11, 1973 at 9:00 pm in the Bronx, NY (the birth time came from a flyer advertising the party).

hiphop

hiphop

With it’s charts’ hemispheric emphasis being in the westthere’s the necessity to interact with others.

Hip Hop culture is about participation. It’s subject to what individuals have to contribute to it via their unique style and flavor.

Also, with some planets in the east, the life of hip hop culture is conditioned by ego justification: not only is it about participation, but also who’s the baddest, freshest, dopest and illest.

With the blend of the Sun in Leo and the Moon in Capricorn, hip hop’s life force is fueled by creative self-expression,  ego acknowledgement and validation of it’s identity.

It desires to be noticed as a shining and authoritative force in the world. This is reflected in a personality form which has a reigning need for status and recognition. It’s nourished by it’s influence over the masses, it’s ambition and the ability to make things happen.

mixtape

The Pisces Ascendant suggest that it’s thrust into the world is a unitive one. Seeking to dissolve boundaries and barriers between individuals and link into the oneness of the collective.

However, in many instances, there is an element of camouflage and some of the energy surrounding the culture isn’t as it appears to be.

The Sun’s placement in the 6th house indicates that the self-expressive and stylistic renderings of Leo would be best served in a field of experience which promotes service to others. Furthermore, the pursuance of becoming master of one’s craft and offering that as one’s work is highly pronounced.

Mercury in Leo’s communication needs center around oratorical flamboyance and the unquestioning self-assurance which makes heroes and heroines.

Mercury is trine Neptune which suggests a free flowing infusion of idealism, creative visualization and lyrical flow. There’s a solid strength in the ability to paint pictures with words.

However, this can easily escape into the world of fantasy, smokescreens and delusion. The direct opposite of the “keep it real” mentality that has pervaded the culture for so many years. Additionally, Mercury’s wide opposition to Jupiter further enhances the vibe of persuasive, yet grandiose and excessive verbal messages.

turntables

Continuing along the lines of communication, Uranus, Pluto and Venus in the Mercury ruled 7th house suggests that the manner in which hip hop relates to the public has the potential to be highly artistic and creative with shockingly transformative overtones.

Venus in Virgo’s tight square to the Sagittarius Midheaven is indicitave of developmental tension between the purity of culture which hip hop seeks to preserve and the universal face it wishes to present to the world as it’s crowning achievement.

There are regular and sometimes volatile discussions about what staying true to “pure” hip hop culture actually means. So, this might result in the dynamic of large scale striving in the world with less thought of hip hop’s efficient functioning or competence when placed in a social and relational context.

Jupiter’s placement in Aquarius outlines that the rewards for hip hop come through it’s innovation and thinking outside the box.

The ability to push the envelope when it comes to convention and to assert it’s “voice” with courage and emotional fervor as the Moon square to Mars indicates.

However, the flip side of the coin is to strike the balance between it’s obvious business needs (Moon in Capricorn) and it’s desire to apply energy in the world aggressively and sometimes without caution (Mars in Aries).

Tying up the chart, the nodal axis in Capricorn/Cancer means that a balance must be achieved between the deep attunement to roots, culture and security (Cancer) and it’s potential to affect progress and span a broader base of influence (Capricorn).

The difficult questions continue to remain about how hip hop becoming more corporate and commercial has effected the familial environment it was birthed in on Sedgwick Avenue.

Again, as hip hop’s Pisces Ascendant suggests, it presents itself to the world in an inspirational fashion, but the actual reality appears to be much more nebulous and something which can’t be readily grasped at this time. Only time will tell which direction the culture is headed.

Pisces Sun, Virgo Moon

The blend of a Pisces Sun and Virgo Moon consists of the individuals core life energy being directed toward  working with the invisible and intangible elements of life.

The sun’s placement suggests that the person is stimulated by an orientation to their inner world which consists of all things symbolic. Music, myths, dreams, films, etc.. pervade the consciousness in hopes that they may be expressed through some creative and artistic form.

The Virgo Moon uses the Pisces sun’s light to reflect a personality which needs to give practical manifestation to these ethereal concepts. There’s an emotional requirement to be exacting, proper and correct about how these particular energies are applied into the world.

This blend symbolizes the no- nonsense metaphysician who is able, through using the Virgoan skills of analysis and discrimination, to make otherwise nebulous concepts, pragmatic and workable in the real world.

Within this combination, the need for personal refinement and gentility is wed with aspirations of merging with an entity greater than oneself through artistic endeavors.

Your energy for self-expression is collected in a private space. The inner life is of utmost importance. You’re constantly engaged in your lifetime homework of discovering the unifying cords which permeate our existence.

You have an emotional need to bring beauty into the world, but may struggle because of questioning whether your sense of aesthetic appreciation is acceptable to others. After all, establishing harmony and win-win situations is your forte.

Visionary ideals that are all inclusive inspire you. Personal relationships are viewed in the context of everyone’s membership in the human family. Quality associations with progressive, creative souls can provide invaluable assistance in connecting to your own spiritual power source.

To maintain your vitality, it’s essential that you look at your life as a blank canvas, painting lines and contours which reflect your unique worldview. Your highly developed sense of intuition can serve you as a guide.

Allowing yourself to become immersed in the “flow” of life while avoiding the trap of using your head or heart exclusively, promotes your equilibrium.

What you’re really trying to accomplish is to paint a clear portrait of whatever your inner landscape is at the time and offer it as a gift to the world.

It’s important to keep in mind that exploring your connection to life not only consists of cohesive factors, but also how you’re distinctly and decidedly YOURSELF.

Lack of concrete boundaries and an overfunctioning need for approval can emerge as your achilles heel if sufficient effort isn’t expended in cultivating a solid sense of identity.

There’s a difference between displaying fluidity, which helps you adapt to others, and neglecting your need for personal autonomy.

Within this combination, social and creative intelligence form an iron clad coalition. Merging oneself with the intangible realms of life via artistic channels of self-reflection is the gateway to balancing one’s identity. This sun-moon blend suggests that to feel “alive” and maintain vitality, one’s concerns should be directed toward the development of intuition and interpersonal savvy.

You shine in the realm of being interested in others and it reflects through a personality which holds peace and idealism in high esteem.

With aesthetic sensitivity and creative imagination as your handmaidens, people feel understood intellectually as well as emotionally in your presence. It’s as if you’ve slid right under your skin and started gently peeling away at the inner layers.

As a result of your tremendous fluency in the languages of the head and heart, your challenge will be to maintain who you are without becoming submerged in the “skin” of others.

Objectivity and empathy can serve you consistently as strengths if you can listen with an open heart and seek to understand, resisting the inclination to provide unsolicited evaluations.

Seek to sincerely connect in order to open the pathway to deeper. more meaningful dialogue with others.

In the sphere of intimate relationships, there’s an emphasis on granting wishes and fulfilling fantasies.

To have your love feeling “full” in mind, heart and spirit is the goal, along with idealistic hopes that an unspoken reciprocation will be soon to follow.

You will no doubt be faced with the dilemma of how to keep your union “polished” when the luster inevitably fades; of stoking the fire when the heat dissipates. Have confidence in your enormous charm, mammoth imagination and your capacity to meet one halfway and they will not fail you.
