Sagittarius Sun, Scorpio Moon: “Stakes is High”

pexels-vinicius-altava-3514150

Freedom and passion.

Not at all an unlikely pairing of needs . However, one could easily see how there could be a challenge to integrate both when involved with another individual.

The two needs would definitely have to negotiate with one another and come to a reasonable agreement . At least for that moment, or day in time.

Let’s  explore for a moment how this blend of a Sagittarius Sun and Scorpio Moon could make a lifetime out of fusing the breadth and depth which is implied by these two requirements.

With the Sun in Sagittarius, the quest to unearth a truth which will highlight the vast cosmic order and provide you with an ever broadening life philosophy is what fuels you.

The adventures of intellectual influencehaving a profound effect on the way others thinkteaching, acquiring knowledge and wisdom and obtaining the foresight to predict outcomes based on what you’ve learned serves as a stimulus for your life energy.

Your Scorpio Moon borrows your shine and reflects it back creating a personality which needs to go deep.

Your reigning needs consist of a necessity to feel life’s experiences at their most profound levels. Piercing and penetrating the veils and leaving the surface levels of existence in the dust.

You’re nourished by immersing yourself in the transformative fires of conflict and intimacy so that you may emerge reborn, wiser and more powerful.

Once a Sagittarian has been bitten by the bug of truth, he or she can’t be stopped. In a style filled with missionary zeal, they aim their arrow at their targets straight and true hoping to capture what they need until their next quest.

This life thrust blends with the energy of the lunar Scorpion, who concentrates his/her emotional reserves in a very private and strategic way only to be released when it’s appropriate. So, whether you possess this planetary placement or you’re close to someone who does- know that the stakes are high and the goal is to live life as such.

Sagittarius Sun, Cancer Moon: “Travellin’ Man”

pexels-markus-spiske-1268131

Your path to higher knowledge has the potential to be realized via your genuine emotional connections with others.

Through exhibiting  your capacity for warmth and nurturing, you’re able to serve as a sensitive educator. An individual who’s relatable and creates avenues of intimate trust in order to disseminate wisdom gained through experience.

The natal placement of the Sun in Sagittarius suggests that the fuel which ignites your life force and sustains vitality is comprised of the freedom to explore and travel spiritually, intellectually and physically.

To shoot arrows of broad and free flying thought into the universe, asking the large scale questions which surround life’s meaning and illicit a panoramic search for truth.

You can span the globe by plane and or indulge yourself  in “foreign” ways of thinking, philosophies and belief systems, with the hope of broadening one’s scope on life to form a more eclectic and comprehensive world view.

The Sagittarian fuel is used by the Cancerian Moon  to reflect a personality form in which emotional security is a primary need.

In this case, emotional security is defined as :

a peaceful existence and a measure of stability in one’s feelings. The feeling safety which results from an environment which is supportive and non-threatening. Also, one which encourages open displays of love, affection and care.

With this Sun/Moon blend, not only is it important that your feelings be honored and respected, but also, your opinions and philosophical outlook. You must be supported in your quest to ask the large scale questions about the workings of the universe.

The placement of the Moon in Cancer suggests that fulfillment of your life potential resides in forging sincere, heartfelt alliances.

Forming bonds with a biological or ideological “family” which will allow you to display your potential gifts of emotional intelligence, acute intuition, and depth of feeling.

This blend has the potential to work well in that:

the gentle Cancer approach refines the strong thrust of Sagittarian intellect and also opens its channels to understand undercurrents and subtext which can permeate one’s environment.

Conversely, the Sagittarian penchant for expansion provides a solid balance to the introverted energies of Cancer, which allows one to display what’s contained “in the shell” in a more outward fashion when necessary.

Astrologer Grant Lewi on the Sagittarius Sun, Cancer Moon Blend :

“This is a highly intuitive, poetic, and sensitive position with an adaptability that  makes it possible for you to use your abilities in almost any field that you want to. Whether you select a business, professional or artistic career, you are likely to master and understand it.

You are capable of broad abstractions of thought- and of understanding details of philosophy- and hard business sense. When you are thinking clearly you can see through anyone or anything.”

“In all things -studies, business, love, ideas, philosophies- you should seek for depth rather than distance. In business, seek soundness rather than brilliance; in creation as in the arts, quality rather than quantity; in love, concentration rather than variety.

You will find the the reward of your great abilities and your high ideology directly in proportion as you concentrate and refuse to scatter your energies.”

Sagittarius, ruled by Jupiter, has the potential to elevate whatever it comes in contact with, and the lunar energies, as exhibited by Cancer, are no exception.  One could say that the qualities associated with the Moon could be brought to the pinnacle of their potential, or exaggerated and distorted beyond belief.

With a sincere, straight shooting arrow, you can find the ultimate freedom in allowing your feelings to flow. This includes allowing yourself to be vulnerable in letting others know just how much they mean to you.

Through a wide ranging mind and rich faculties of imagination, painting a picture which motivates the spirit and stirs the fires of the heart is something you can do if you’re willing to aspire to understand the emotional framework of others as well as seek to reveal your sweet, tender  interior underneath your solid covering.

It’s essential that you recognize and become well acquainted with the archetypal feminine (yin) energies which occupy your heart center, as they relate to the expression of the yang. This applies to both Women and Men alike, as the “masculine” and “feminine” are determined not by an absolute, but rather by a relative predominance of one set of characteristics over the other.

By way of the Cancer archetype, your Sagittarian energy can radiate throughout the grandeur of the cosmos.

Sun-Mercury Aspects : “Think About It”

pexels-gui-spinardi-2471301

For those who don’t know, Mercury travels close to the Sun. So, at any given time, the two entities can never be more than 28 degrees apart. I’ve heard of many people who say they don’t “feel” like their Sun sign discovering later that they have Mercury in that sign since the only possible aspect between these two is the conjunction.

With the Sun blended with Mercury, there’s no separation between what provides one vitality and the tools of perception, learning, communication and analysis.  Knowledge of oneself and the world figure heavily in the formation of one’s identity. Thoughts are essential to this person’s life force.

In the Bible, in the book of proverbs, there’s a passage that reads: “As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he”. That sentiment is perfect for this aspect.

However, the difficulty occurs when the individual can’t distance themselves from the opinions that they hold and think that things MUST be a certain way because they say so.

A potential strength which can be developed is cultivating a mind of one’s own and wanting your thoughts and ideas to genuinely exemplify effort toward your intellectual development.

After all, a mind is a terrible thing to waste. If you have a Sun- Mercury Conjunction, your theme song is “Think About It” by Special Ed. You can listen here:

Aquarius Sun, Gemini Moon : “Aquemini”

black-telescope-under-blue-and-blacksky-2034892

There are a multitude of ways to explore one’s uniqueness and part of your purpose for operating with this sun moon blend will be to place information you gather about how you function into a larger context to find out what really makes YOU the person that you are.

Your life’s mission isn’t supposed to be relegated to a static and cumbersome existence. You may find that you’ll have to “try on a number of hats” and embrace the continual transformation that’s taking place.

An insatiably inquiring mind, your ability to adjust to changing circumstances and a non-conformist bent are all resources which you need to tap into in order to maximize this solar/lunar connection. You’ll find that you will be able to display your capacity to awaken others most effectively when coming off of the heels of major insights about yourself and your multi-dimensionality.

With all of this “air” floating around, a concern is that you’ll concoct the most brilliant ideas, but will never use them. Or, you’ll get trapped into your head and rationalize that you’re so “ahead of your time” that others won’t understand you, or in some cases, don’t deserve to hear what you have to say.

Deep down, what you really want is appreciation for being an original thinker who doesn’t suffer from conceptual incarceration and is constantly open to a revolutionary stream of consciousness. However,  there needs to be a solid strategy for bringing form to your brilliance.

If you find yourself feeling stifled, it’s most likely because you haven’t truly allowed yourself the space which you need to circulate or made room for the truism that every second, you’re evolving into a different person.

Obsession about classifying every facet of your being can lead to stagnation of the highest order, so pull out all of the stops in figuring out what makes you tick and then compare what the various explorations are trying to tell you. Understand that this is a lifetime process and that you’re really seeking something that can’t be encompassed in the walls of hard-core definitions.

Sun-Pluto Aspects : “The Healer”

woman-holding-face-of-man-3413666

When studying Astrology, one of the most important lessons to be understood is:

when it comes to signs, planets and their placements, houses and aspects- there are two sides to every coin.

Attaching the labels of “good” and “bad” when discussing these entities will most likely hinder us from developing a broad understanding of their functions within the greater astrological whole.

When the Sun, which symbolizes the ingredients that comprise your life force and identity has a “sit down” with Pluto, who represents the transformer, catharsis, regeneration and all that reforms, a powerful impact is released into the universe. Influence that can be used for good, or for ill.

If you have a Sun-Pluto aspect within your birth chart, there is an astounding amount of personal power at your disposal. Whether or not you spend the time and effort on yourself which is necessary to access this power is another story.

Anything which involves Pluto is deep and significant . Plutonian energies operate below the surface and cannot readily be “seen” with the naked eye.

To truly benefit from these aspects, you will need to engage in a tremendous amount of self-reflection and scrutiny.

You ‘ll also have to examine your own motivations when it comes to dealing with others. Listening ability can most certainly serve you as an ally. You will not succeed if your method for getting ahead consists of bulldozing others with your views or agendas.

Your potentially highly magnetic personality will work for you providing that you learn to trust others and reveal your motives.

In fact: Sun-Pluto people have the potential serve humanity as healers because of their experience in dealing with matters which are not openly discussed due to the sensitivity and the privacy of their nature. The uniting of these two planets, when capitalized on, makes it possible to live a life which is highly and intentionally purposeful.

An existence based on positive change, and the continuous reinvention of self. Shedding the skin of your identity on a periodic basis, removing all of the outworn parts in order to thrive as the TRUE youAuthenticity in all of its forms can be yours. The misuses of Sun-Pluto power are evident in the megalomania of Nino Brown and Tony Montana.

If you haven’t seen “New Jack City” or “Scarface”, watching these films can provide a picture which cannot be totally captured in words. The choice remains: to heal or to hurt. It’s truly up to us what side of the coin we choose.

Relationship Astrology: Sun-Moon Contacts Between Partners

man-kissing-left-cheek-of-smiling-woman-1667847 (1)

In Synastry (the astrology of human relationships) Sun-Moon contacts are heralded as a textbook factor of compatibility. While one must explore the birth charts and life experiences of both people, it STILL goes deeper than that.

The Moon has no light of its own, it  uses the solar energy by reflecting it into the universe.

Is this a “good” thing? I don’t know. Is it “bad”? Again, same answer.

I’d say it just is, and whatever we choose to make of it is our decision.

When there’s Sun-Moon contact existent between two individuals, one may have indeed met their true reflection. The parts we love about ourselves and the one’s we may be attempting to escape are right there for us in plain view if we pay attention. Essentially, the identity and aspirations of one individual are connected to the other’s emotional fulfillment.

Who one is becoming may provide nourishment and sustenance to the other. In fact, both people work in this shared dynamic. There’s an atmosphere which brings light to emotions and subconscious material— you know….. the kind which we may be projecting on others, but that’s very much a part of our own psyche.

Sun-Moon contacts serve us as an archetypal meeting of the inner masculine and feminine, and this is NOT gender specific.

These designations are more based on symbolic archetypes and less on whether you’re a Woman or Man. Either way, there’s a fusion of the mover, shaker, and generator ; the part of us that’s active, becomes aroused and asserts, and the instinctive, receptive, yielding energy which speaks to accommodation and containment.

So much of Astrological compatibility depends on the state of consciousness that two people are operating from. If both people have made solid commitments to personal integration, these contacts can prove to be much more enjoyable and sustaining than if they haven’t.

Operating functionally, there’s a climate of mutual support, emotional security and the affirmation of the humanness of both partners. Each person has a clear, illuminated  vision for the relationship and more importantly, and objective view of the other.

In an alternative scenario, we’re staring at parts of ourselves that we may have suppressed because it’s not flattering to our egos. So, of course, it’s always the other person that has “issues”. If they would just “see the light”, everything would alright.

What this dynamic produces in both parties is distortion. Instead of a sunny day, it’s a cloudy one which diminishes the capacity to truly relate to each other. So, instead of human to human contact, one or both partners has been reduced to “hey YOU over there!”

It’s understood that another person can’t “make” us whole. However, working with these contacts in a relationship can certainly provide us with valuable material for understanding what it’s going to take to reach those heights on an individual level. The questions about this Synastry aspect center around whether we’re willing to take responsibility for the material that’s OURS and work with it developmentally rather than casting blame or shame on a person that we claim to love and respect.

We would like to believe that we’re great ALL of the time, at least that’s what the bathroom mirror says, right?

The news flash says: we’re not.

The outlook is dismal if we’re not willing to confront the root causes of WHY we are the way we are. But, if we can find it in ourselves to explore this labyrinth, with loving, nurturing support from our significant others, we can certainly bring our psyches into balance and find out more about what can make us whole.

Aquarius Sun, Pisces Moon

Where there’s unity, there’s also room for diversity.

You’re most definitely fueled by the aspirations of being your own person, but there’s also a need to tap into the collective consciousness; to be a part of something greater than yourself.

For you, fulfillment lies in dissolving all of the petty and artificial barriers which cause us from solving universal problems.

Often, you may feel a tension of sorts. Specifically between merging and individuation. Emotionally, the idea of submerging your ego in service of greater ideals appeals to you. However, you wont feel sane if you’re not allowed to bring this world the creative gifts that YOU and ONLY YOU can.

If not careful, you can cop to victim status. Distancing yourself from doing your real work and claiming that no one understands you. So, it’s important for you to understand that to rebel, or go against the grain may create a certain distance because everyone isn’t ready for the concept of radical change.

One of the potential lessons contained in this Sun/Moon blend is: to join together in a common cause, everyone doesn’t have to be the same. In fact, differences need to be recognized.

You fall into a trap when you think that to make a difference in this world and affect social change, you have to be a carbon copy or replica who purchased a “revolutionary kit” for $19.95 containing certain cookie cutter phrases, prescriptions, ideologies, physical items and so forth.

If you want to maximize your potential, you can be the spokesperson who distributes the message that everyone looks at things in a slightly different manner, and through that uniqueness of perspective, a multidimensional view is formed, which arms us with more possibilities in curing what ails our basic humanity.

You can let the world know that individuals are present to strengthen the group.

What will you contribute to the masses that’s innovative?

Sagittarius Sun, Libra Moon : ” I Finesse Everything”

monochrome-photography-of-person-laughing-1484799

In Dale Carnegie’s ground breaking best seller “How to Win Friends & Influence People”, the first chapter is entitled ” If You Want To Gather Honey, Don’t Kick Over the Beehive”. I think this phrase is a perfect segue into the discussion of the Sagittarius Sun, Libra Moon combination.

Sagittarian fuel is comprised of the assertion, or thrust of perceived truth into the world with the expectation of having impact on others’ ways of thinking. To influence, and to ‘educate’, which is derived from the Latin root educo, meaning to educe or draw out.

The Archer gains stimulus from drawing knowledge out of others to lead them from the stifling constraints of small thinking into an expanded, more comprehensive perspective. Sagittarius’ life energy is comprised of a holistic mentality, which consists of the weaving together of broad based philosophies which function as wholes and not disconnected pieces of data. The Centaur is further motivated by the challenge of expanding and advancing these systems of thought through it’s ability to synthesize facts.

With the Moon in Libra, the core needs of the personality revolve around connectivity with others based on the principles of equality, objectivity and goodwill. This lunar placement also wishes to draw others out, but more for the purpose of  discourse in hopes they may discover common ground, even in the midst of potential conflicts. A Libra Moon suggests a personality which is nourished by tact, diplomacy and compliance with the rules of social etiquette.

Because of the Sagittarian Sun’s desire to affect thought and have its opinion respected, it would seem more than reasonable for them to abide by these rules to increase the chances of their wisdom being received in a favorable manner. What the Archer needs to keep in mind is that consideration for the sensibilities of others rarely diffuses the potency of the truth which they’re so adept at conveying.

When this Sun-Moon combination is operating in a dysfunctional manner the commitment to “truth” over extends itself and manifests behaviorally as self-righteous zealotry which intrudes on others’ freedom to experience and convey their personal reality, and the willingness to recognize another side of an issue is diminished.

Used constructively, this solar-lunar blend encourages and promotes an educative process which emphasizes inclusion and equal participation as opposed to dogmatic proselytizing based on heavy handed directives. The remembrance that EVERYONE has a perspective.

Sun-Uranus Aspects : “The Truth”

To thine own self, be true.

Most of us have heard and read this phrase countless numbers of times. However, how many of us have stopped to actually ponder it’s meaning and deeper significance? If you have a Sun-Uranus aspect in your birth chart, part of your life’s mission is to explore this theme upside down and inside out.

Sun-Uranus aspects suggest a tremendous drive to put your unique stamp or fingerprint on everything you do. Whether it’s your signature way of brushing your teeth, the slang that you originate or a scientific breakthrough. Authenticity is of utmost importance to people with Sun-Uranus aspects.

In fact: A portion of your path is to develop your individuality via the uprooting of conditioned behaviors, values and customs which do not serve your distinct style of evolution.

Sun- Uranus people must participate in a revolutionary act of courage which will spur their development. They must responsibly and intelligently relinquish the person they were taught to be by family, friends, and culture, and put their efforts toward becoming the person they were meant to be, complete with a genuine life philosophy which encourages their individual empowerment, devoid of societal trappings.

If the two selves are largely in alignment with one another, the act may be less shocking. However, highly functioning people with this aspect need what they’ve been taught by others to pass their litmus test before they accept and incorporate it into their lives. When Sun-Uranus aspects operate in a dysfunctional manner, nonsensical rebellion grabs center stage.

The mental faculties are no longer guided toward realization of your unique life story, but rather the desire to overcompensate and prove to everyone how widely your non-conformist capacities span. You become the type of person who refuses to admit a movie was entertaining because everyone else liked it. Or the eccentric aficionado of super, duper obscure underground hip-hop.  Becoming authentic contains its rewards as well as its responsibilities. As a Sun-Uranus person, you must use your exceptional ingenuity to create a life which honors both.

Sagittarius Sun, Gemini Moon : “I Whirlwind Through Cities”

architecture-billboard-black-and-white-2173365

A number of years back, a film was made by HBO on the infamous boxing promoter, Don King. Mr. King was played by Ving Rhames. One of the things I’ll always remember was the completely Sagittarian philosophy King was portrayed as displaying toward the contracts of his boxers when promoting his fights : “just sign by the X and we’ll fill in the details later !!!” He exclaimed.

This leads us into the land of the Gemini-Sagittarius polarity.

In a birth chart, when the Sun is placed in Sagittarius, the core energy which provides stimulus to the individual consists of broadening the identity and worldview via physical and intellectual questing. It’s a necessity to view life from the widest frame of reference.

Psychologically, the archer is driven by the pursuit of an all encompassing truth and philosophy which provides clues to the grand cosmic design of which we’re all a part.

A thirst for knowledge and search for meaning which enlists the archetypes of the Wise Woman/Man, Visionary, Philosopher, Prophet and Teacher of High Wisdom pervades the heart of the centaur’s life force.

The Moon in Gemini uses the energy of the Sun to reflect forth an individual whose personality needs consist of the diversification of thought, social adaptability and a constant flow of mental discourse and the sharing of ideas.

This Sun-Moon blend illustrates the Sagittarian potential for synthesis of the whole along with Gemini’s possibilities in the adroit analysis of the parts. Where the energy of Gemini classifies, labels and categorizes, Sagittarius theorizes and creates more comprehensive systems of thought.

The dysfunctional expression of this Sun-Moon combination can manifest behaviorally as an individual who, amidst the excitement of their new enlightenment, proclaims that they’ve discovered the ONE and ONLY truth which applies to everything.

Consequently a tremendous amount of time and energy is now spent trying to “convince and convert” others to their worldview while dismissing other findings of truth as being invalid and overlooking important details in the process.

Conversely, One can also become lost in the process of isolating selected pieces of information or the collection of data, never making the transition to a broader spectrum of knowledge and wisdom.

A constructive synthesis of this Sun-Moon combination consists of developing the capacity to grasp the magic of thinking big, while holding simultaneous awareness that “the devil is in the details”. Making room for youthful curiosity and wonderment to acknowledge the myriad of truths which exist within our vast universe.
