Taurus Sun, Libra Moon

adult-bag-door-936062 (1)

In a birth chart, when the Sun is in Taurus and the Moon is in Libra, a double dose of Venusian energy permeates the atmosphere.

The core life energy of the individual is directed toward  stability, comfort and consistency.

Building, slowly but surely, towards a future which enhances material and spiritual value is the “fuel” which stimulates. The Libra Moon borrows the suns light to reflect a personality who needs to balance their need for self approval and societal acceptance.

There’s a sense of being emotionally nourished by being seen as a fair, just and kind person. Someone who’s able to build bridges and negotiate seemingly polarized energies.

Astrology & Compatibility: Eliminating the Myth of the “Perfect Match”

Jamaican Commission Face Green Halo Banner

“Everything that irritates us about others can lead us to an understanding of ourselves.” – Carl Jung

Where intimate relationships are concerned, there seems to be an ongoing debate regarding the significance of zodiac signs and astrology in general.

Some think astrology is quite helpful as a tool for self knowledge and it’s ability to highlight the themes and tendencies which may be present in their personal relationships, while others cast astrology as containing minimal merit and even playing  on the naivete and desperation of individuals who are searching for answers as to why they cannot find their dream partner or soulmate.

In true Sagittarian fashion, I’m going to give it to you straight.

Astrology is a strikingly profound art. When used constructively, practically, and with honorable intentions, it can reveal a great deal of valuable information regarding our compatibility with another individual.

However, what it doesn’t reveal is the level of consciousness at which we, or the partners we are comparing ourselves with are living out in our birth charts. Astrology does not tell us how mature we are or how accountable we are for our behavior.

Image

In synastry,(a.k.a. relationship astrology) having a “good” chart does not let you off the hook in maintaining the relationship any more than having a beautiful front lawn excuses you from mowing and caring for it.

Conversely, while a “difficult” chart may indicate challenges, if addressed earnestly, the two individuals may produce an inseperable union built on integrity, trust and mutual respect.

If we truly plan on using astrology for guidance in dating and relationships the way it was intended, the best method of operation is for us to know ourselves first.

Let’s have our charts interpreted by a competent professional astrologer. Or, at the minimum, explore a reliable free website to obtain a copy of our birth charts.

Through active participation we will be vastly more equipped to delve into, and evaluate, with discrimination, the wealth of information available in books and cyberspace. It is a requirement that we develop a thorough understanding of our own astrological dynamics, or we will find ourselves forever uttering the dreaded sentences:

“I’ll never date a (insert zodiac sign) again” or
“I don’t date (insert zodiac sign)”

For example, let’s say that you are now praising the celestial gods because you’ve found your “ideal” Pisces Man/Woman, and it appears that you’ll never have to deal with the cold, remote and impersonal Aquarian energies that give you the heebie- jeebies.

Zodiac66

However, you never looked deeply enough into the totality of astrology to find out that he/she’s an Aquarius rising with a stellium of the moon, mercury and venus in aquarius in the 11th house. True, the individual may have a Pisces sun, but a major portion of their chart reflects the same Aquarian flavoring that you were so intent upon escaping from.

We may need to participate in some serious self-examination and ask ourselves honest questions regarding whether we’ve discovered another convenient scapegoat on which to pin our anxieties, insecurities and frustrations.

Or, we sincerely want to incorporate astrology as a viable system of assistance and insight, into our relationships.

Another point worth considering is: through astrological research,  we may  discover that what’s holding us back is US.

OUR fears, phobias, baggage, complexes, etc… which we have conveniently projected upon the Scorpios, Sagittarians and Libra’s of the world. Maybe we’re not personifying the highest energies of our individual planetary placements and relationships. Difficult to read? Yes. Worth considering? Also yes.

When we reduce or remove accountability from the equationand minimize the power of our own efforts at self-improvement, we have not only failed astrology, but more importantly failed ourselves.

Working in our best interest, we allow astrology to serve us as a tool, we don’t serve IT, coupled with the self-deception that some irreversible cosmic fate awaits us.

So, who is your astrological dream match?

The answer is YOU.

The better YOU that you’re becoming. The YOU that you’re sincerely and consistently working to improve. YOU, with all of your strengths, talentsgifts, flaws and challenges. The wiser YOU, who, through experience has become more enlightened, liberated from past hurts, and more loving.

The life-affirming and positive YOU, who is ready to embark on the journey of becoming fully engaged in relating to another human being in an honest, intimate and heartfelt manner. Respecting and honoring your individual destinies, while sharing a collective quest.

Know and become yourself, and watch your world expand.

Pisces Sun, Taurus Moon : “Far Away From Here”

Good morning #mood. #bliss #LiveThatGardenLife . .. #Repost @locsandluggage ・・・ 😏 [ R E F L E C T I O N ] 😏 | Photo by @manoelavaicomasoutras 👏🏽 | Tag your favorite loc’d traveler! 💼 || #lençóis #brazil #locsandluggage

In an individual birth chart, when the Sun is in Pisces and the Moon in Taurus, the fuel which provides stimulus for this person is that of spiritual liberation. Essentially, what motivates this individual is the desire to transcend the earthly plane and do creative work in the intangible and ethereal worlds. In fact, the human body can be viewed as a “prison” or trapping of sorts.

The Piscean potential for intuitive flow may allow them to just “know” that there’s more than meets the eye than this “gross and heavy reality” that’s being presented to us. This placement also suggests a capacity for highly developed empathy. When a person with a Pisces Sun says: “I feel you”, chances are: they really do. One of the best things about this is that it’s usually in a non-judgemental manner, seeking only to listen and understand.

The Taurus Moon uses the light of the Pisces Sun to form a personality whose emotional needs center around stability and security. Basically, this equals keeping things as they are and holding life’s surprises to a bare minimum. The Moon, when placed in Taurus suggests a capacity for sensual enjoyment of everyday, routine things. The lunar Taurean is nourished by what’s familiar to them.

For those with the solar/lunar blend of Pisces/Taurus, it certainly raises a few challenging questions: How can I do creative work that’s “otherworldly”, spiritual and transcendent and stay rooted to a semblance of familiarity? How can I enjoy the sensual pleasures of the body as my emotional needs require without becoming a slave to its importance?

On the underdeveloped side, the Pisces Sun’s fuel to move “far away from here” can resonate so strongly that the dangers of cloudy judgment exist. There may be an inclination to get “high” by any means, and in the boundless world of Pisces, nothing is off limits: drugs, alcohol, sex, fantasy, incessant television and anything which will provide an escape hatch.

Meanwhile, a potential downfall of the Taurus Moon has it’s roots in inertia. When unchecked, a natural gravitation toward the known has potential to morph into an extremely static and conservative approach to life. The line of thinking here is that life itself will somehow freeze if you do nothing differently in your individual world. However, there’s a strong possibility that you’ll see that day when you get up off the couch, look out the window and realize the world is passing you by.

A productive use of this Sun/Moon blend is grounded spirituality. Embracing the sense of awe and the creativity which comes with the recognition of life’s unity. This goes for ALL creatures great and small. To show gratitude in everyday mundane experiences.

While it may be nice to float off to the fifth dimension, you must know that rich and varied spiritual experiences can be had right here on the ground. Furthermore, your physical body is a vehicle and vessel to assist you in your earthly work- not your enemy. In order to maximize its use, it’s advised that you remove the prison bars from your mind. You can still get “far away from here” ON EARTH.

Capricorn Sun, Taurus Moon

When I think about the Capricorn Sun, Taurus Moon combination, both the image and idea of blue chip stocks comes to mind.

The reason why people to choose to invest in these stocks and the energy which provides stimulus to earth signs are very similar: a reputation for quality, stability, maturity and a steadiness which can withstand dips between high and low in both the economy and life in general. Essentially, this Sun-Moon blend is stationed on solid ground.

In a birth chart, when the Sun is placed in Capricorn and the Moon in Taurus, the individual is fueled by making things happen in an authoritative capacity. Managing, directing and controlling. Straight up running the show, whether this is from an external point of view as a CEO or an internal focus of self-mastery.

In this placement, the life energy is geared toward leading by example and bearing the standard of integrity and responsibility, which means aligning thoughts, words and actions consistently as well as responding to the life conditions that one has created in a constructive manner. There’s also a motivation to achieve and receive status and recognition for one’s accomplishments which have come as a result of hard work, discipline and perseverance.

Capricorn energy lends itself toward having the patience in order to climb even the highest mountain to the pinnacle of success. They don’t just want to show up to the party, they want to be the best. In their mind, if they were going to be average, they could’ve just stayed at home.

As reflected by the Taurus Moon, this individuals emotional and personality needs are to uphold the status quo. To infuse a familiarity into the state of affairs. This is because once they’ve found a “formula” for certain ways of doing and being, they prefer to stick with what works.

As a matter of fact, the bull finds a certain beauty in this simplicity. Nothing fancy, just the appreciation of the sensual pleasures of life, building and maintaining financial and spiritual wealth.

The desire for Taurean comfort also stems from it’s correlation to safety. if one stays in the realm of the known, then there’s a greater likelihood that the more unfamiliar elements of life which disturb predictability can be kept at arms length. Unfortunately, more value is often placed on having the situation remain the same rather than if it’s actually favorable or unfavorable.

It may help individuals with this Sun-Moon blend to possibly reframe their ideas about what constitutes true security. To consider that the process of change holds just as much potential to transform and enrich life as it does to harm or disturb it.

Also, just because we may have committed to a particular plan or focus in the past doesn’t mean that we’re hopelessly bound to traveling in that direction. We have the freedom to shift as situational and environmental factors reveal themselves.

Strategies can be elastic. You’re capable diversify your portfolio of life options.

Just because a certain system “works” doesn’t mean that it’s going to continue to. After all, people and times have a way of changing, and too much riding on the waves of the familiar can certainly create the element of inertia, which is formally defined as:

” A property of matter by which it remains at rest or in uniform motion in the same straight line unless acted on by some external force.”

This Sun-Moon combination can work most optimally by taking calculated risks and employing flexible strategies for living.  By periodic assessments of their operational methods. Evaluating based on their effectiveness rather than their familiarity.

I’ve been a fan of Hip Hop Artist A.Z. ever since he made his debut on Nas’ “Illmatic” album. Right here, he’s collaborated with the eclectic producer Rodney Hazard on the track “Vintage”, which captures the spirit of this Sun/Moon blend. Please enjoy:

Opposite Signs in the Birth Chart : The Call For Integration

Image

“I’m a True Sagittarius !” “I’m all Gemini, and proud of it !” I’m the epitome of a Scorpio !”

If you ask most Astrologers, chances are that they’ve heard statements similar to these a countless number of times.

So, what do these declarations really mean?

If I had to guess, I would say that people tend to identify very strongly with the characteristics which are representative of their sun signs. Of course, those of us who have had our charts done know that it’s impossible to be “all” or 100% of any sign. And, to take this statement a little further, you probably wouldn’t want to be.

I know that this may sound particularly peculiar coming from someone who has titled his blog “Sagittarian Mind”. However, I’m discovering that some of us are really ‘missing the boat’ in failing to grasp the inherent gifts contained in the totality of our charts. Especially our opposite or complementary signs, which add a considerable amount of balance and “fill in the blanks.”

As Piero Ferrci stated in his book “What We may Be” :

” People identified with one pole may be rich in the quality of the opposite one but repress it, and consciously devalue it.”

If we’re truly striving to become integrated human beings, this line of thinking is worthy of serious consideration. Here’s how I have applied this idea to the twelve signs of the zodiac:

In Aries, we have the initiator, leader and pioneer. The Ram suggests aspirations of an assertive “go-getter” who spearheads projects and delegates to others with the aim of successful completion. Aries can call on it’s opposite sign’s (Libra) qualities of instituting teamwork, cooperation and maintaining harmony to make this happen.

In Taurus,  there’s the energy which suggests consistency and stability. The builder and conservative who is reserved in expression, yet solid as a rock. Patient and practical with a great deal of common sense. However, he or she knows that they cannot remain in the same rigid pattern which produces inertia. Taurus can call on it’s opposite sign, Scorpio for depth perception and the capacity to transform through elimination of people, places and objects that have reached their expiration date and no longer contribute to self-empowerment.

In Gemini, we have the versatile ‘jack of all trades who is driven by a compulsive need to gather information. Here we have the reporter, journalist and social butterfly. The twins are curious, witty and highly intelligent. However, Gemini can call on it’s opposite sign of Sagittarius to teach them the difference between information and knowledge. To point Gemini towards a larger understanding and context in which to place the many details they’ve acquired.

In Cancer, we have the sensitive nurturer who takes care of family and fiercely protects their loved ones. Fortified by the world of emotions and imagination, Cancer can call on it’s opposite sign of Capricorn to educate them on the process of exposing themselves to the world of feelings, yet not becoming engulfed in them. In turn, this tutoring will allow Cancer to help others help themselves. Tenderly, yet objectively pointing then to the road of self-sufficiency.

In Leo, we have the charismatic, self-expressive hero. Generous in sharing time and energy with others, the Lion and Lioness radiate as they feel the power of their individuality surging through their veins.Leo’s opposite sign of Aquarius can teach that these ensigns weren’t just granted for personal use, but for the good of the collective and humanity in general. The Water Bearer can show the Lion how to make the stage large enough to accommodate all.

In Virgo, we have the critical thinker. Analytical, discriminating and precise with TWO eyes for detail.

Virgo’s opposite sign of Pisces can introduce the value of listening to intuition and resisting the urge to deconstruct people and situations with cold, hard facts. Pisces says to Virgo :” I.Q. is great, but E.Q. is equally valid.”

In Libra, we have the diplomat. Charming, peaceful and tactful. Able to navigate virtually any social situation with grace, the scales have an entire etiquette class stored in their brain.

Libra’s opposite sign of Aries grabs them off the proverbial “fence” that they’ve been riding all night and shows the scales how to make their wishes known and start a sentence with “I”.

In Scorpio, we have the probing, investigating depth psychologist. The scorpion’s breakfast consists of passion pancakes and intensity tea. Their ability to get to the bottom of people and situations is second to none.

However, the opposite sign of Taurus can teach the scorpion that maybe your next door neighbor didn’t mean anything else than “good morning.” The bull can bring stability to Scorpio and ease it’s emotional turbulence by providing the grounding of the earth.

ISagittarius, we have knowledge, wisdom and understanding. The philosopher, teacher and metaphysician. Questing, traveling and seeking. Sagittarians know that “foreign exchange” isn’t just trading in your U.S. Dollars for Euros, rather it’s the exchanging of thoughts and ideas regarding concepts which were essentially “foreign” before you became exposed to them. Sagittarius’ opposite sign of Gemini can help the archer keep it’s facts straight and accurate. The twins can help Sagittarians, who have a penchant for overlooking details, to keep their ducks in a row. Gemini says to Sag: “Don’t forget to double check the math in that checkbook register !Remember, we still have a week to go on this trip!”

In Capricorn, we have the CEO, the achiever and the producer. Caps are In the office sipping on coffee at 6 am reading the Wall Street Journal in their traditional dark blue suits. A master at delaying short-term gratification in exchange for long term value, the goat has reached success through self-discipline and becoming his own inner authority. Capricorn’s opposite sign of Cancer teaches how to tenderly give of themselves and protect others in a sensitive way without relinquishing their title. Only adding another dimension towards their wholeness.

In Aquarius, we have the activist, revolutionary and the rebel. Willing to fight with”the people” for a common cause. Although relating to individuals on somewhat of an impersonal level, the water bearer is a true friend to humanity. Aquarius’ opposite sign of Leo can teach him that sometimes you have to be your own best friend. Also, it’s okay to let your light shine above the crowd every now and then. Leo says: It’s okay to lend your talents to the collective, but you have to be able to embark on a repo mission at any time to take your skills back for personal use !

In Pisces, we have the creative musician, imaginative artist and the compassionate healer. The fish have the capacity to travel the invisible realms of life and return with a full report. Pisces realizes that were all bound together by cords. That all manifestations of life are spiritual in nature, and that term must be broadened and a wider net must be cast. Virgo, the opposite sign of Pisces can teach the fish the value of rational analysis and provide the much needed filters of discrimination. Virgo says to Pisces: the expression of spirituality and intuitive faculty does not excuse us from having to separate the wheat from the chaff.

Virgo Sun, Taurus Moon

*Excerpt from the upcoming “Book of Virgo”

Serenity is what your soul craves. In the deepest recesses of your heart, a peaceful existence is what fulfills you. The experience of your senses and using your physical body as a vehicle for enjoyment may come naturally to you.

BUT WAIT….

What fuels you and where your aspirations lie, are in the arena of improvement of yourself and others. Your radiance shines through when you serve others via a skill or part of yourself which you feel that you’ve “perfected”.  However, there can be a constant, nagging feeling that something is always wrong.

Having this Sun/Moon combination, one of the lessons which needs to be digested is: even when you have a system seems to be functioning optimally, you can’t lean on it forever. Life and YOU are still up for continuous assessment and you have the ability to do so while accepting your flaws.

The part of you which wants to relax and revel in life, and the one that wants to “do better” can be at variance and need to find a way to create a friendship where dual needs are addressed and honored. Until this happens, you may be consistently questioning whether you’re having too much fun at the expense of your development, or you may even view the enjoyment of life as a hindrance to your progress instead of a part of a well-integrated human being.

Think more about producing concrete results and less about your work being pristine and flawless and you’ll find that solid, steady progress is being made in the way of your endeavors. In love, enjoy the one you’re with. Appreciate the person inside for who they truly are while curbing the urge to refine them based on your vision of the relationship.

The electric and innovative life journey which you aspire to embark on is best supported by stable and consistent structures which have the potential to yield fruitful dividends.

Your emotional needs center around nurturing a true sense of value, and participating in experiences which heighten your life as artistic flair. At best, there are continuous and healthy questions of how practical and workable concepts can be before you suddenly run a blue streak in attempting to change society’s outlook on issues which happen to be near and dear to your heart.

At worst, you emit a crusty fear and habitual clinging to what’s always been done. Your challenge is to find the happy medium between ruffling feathers and destroying them; between rocking the boat and sinking it. You seek to push the envelope, but at the end of the day, you also hope that same envelope holds material rewards which you can cash in to further your interests and make life more comfortable.

With this Sun/Moon blend, one of your most important lessons to learn is that risks can surely backfire, and playing it safe is sometimes a smart move given the right circumstances. The key is to avoid becoming immobilized by anything which takes you out of your comfort zone. All change doesn’t have to be radical. In, fact incremental adjustments satiate your need for simplicity. Through experience, you’ll learn that all change isn’t positive, and doesn’t always equal “progress”.

One of the major challenges in your life is knowing whether to pursue your desires through more ordinary and conventional means, or through more shocking channels. Surely, there’s a “sweet spot” here which can address personal aspirations and emotional fulfillment.

Results matter to you, and although it sounds impressive to be that person who’s always “doing something different”, there needs to be an examination of what’s ACTUALLY GETTING DONE in real time.

Do your thoughts and actions light the way for greater human progress in the physical realm? Does the knowledge you disseminate question the status quo, as well as honor the solid structures which support your humanitarian efforts?

The Taurus Archetype: Doug Heffernan

Image

If you’re not familiar with the name Doug Heffernan, he’s the character who was played by Kevin James on the now defunct comedy series “King of Queens”. On a personal note, I think this show is hilarious and the character of Doug definitely goes a long way in illustrating the Taurus Archetype. Granted, there are many ways in which an astrological archetype can be expressed. However, Doug’s character unearths a lot of what we know about Taurus in it’s most basic form.

In a birth chart, when the Sun is placed in Taurus, the fuel which stimulates the individual is that which is geared toward keeping things as they are. Basically, a tranquil life with no real surprises. Maintaining the status quo and things as they should be. The tendency is to gravitate toward what’s known because it brings a sense of comfort and security.

On the show, Doug’s character is a driver for the fictional company “IPS”. He’s been there for a number of years and likes his job. In short, he’s comfortable. He goes to work every day, clocks in , delivers his packages and then comes home to his wife Carrie. Admittedly, Doug has voiced no passionate ambition to climb the ladder at his company, but rather to do the best he can in his current position.

For the most part, his character suggests a Man of even disposition with not a lot of highs and lows. He’s relatively easy to get along with and has friends who enjoy his company. In fact, he’s had the SAME friends for a really long time, so the stability factor is there:gravitation to the known and familiar. Doug has a regular hang out spot called “Cooper’s” where he meets up with Deacon Palmer, who is his co-worker and best friend, his Cousin Danny and Spence, who is Danny’s roommate.

It’s fair to say that Doug can be counted on to do what he says he’s going to do. He comes home every night and lives in relative peace with Carrie despite some of the mishaps and adventures which pervade the household.

Doug’s character also illustrates the dysfunctional side of Taurus. In most cases, unless it’s serving him directly, he’s very reluctant to try anything that’s not familiar to him. There are several episodes in the show  where this attitude is evident.

In one episode, Carrie wants to start socializing with her colleagues from work more, so she sets up arrangements to start interacting with other couples. To show his disapproval, Doug engages is some very off putting and even grotesque antics, when Carrie is absent to drive other couples away. His remark is that he “likes our friends just fine and doesn’t need any new ones.”

I’m going to be astrotyping the rest of this cast soon, as it was one of my favorite shows.
